The Longmire Buildings in Mount Rainier National Park comprise the park's former administrative headquarters, and are among the most prominent examples of the National Park Service Rustic style in the national park system. They comprise the Longmire Community Building of 1927, the Administration Building of 1928, and the Longmire Service Station of 1929. Together, these structures were designated National Historic Landmarks on May 28, 1987. The administration and community buildings were designed by National Park Service staff under the direction of Thomas Chalmers Vint.
The Old Faithful Historic District in Yellowstone National Park comprises the built-up portion of the Upper Geyser Basin surrounding the Old Faithful Inn and Old Faithful Geyser. It includes the Old Faithful Inn, designed by Robert Reamer and is itself a National Historic Landmark, the upper and lower Hamilton's Stores, the Old Faithful Lodge, designed by Gilbert Stanley Underwood, the Old Faithful Snow Lodge, and a variety of supporting buildings. The Old Faithful Historic District itself lies on the 140-mile Grand Loop Road Historic District.
The Faraway Ranch Historic District is part of the Chiricahua National Monument in southeastern Arizona, and preserves an area associated with the final conflicts with the local Apache, one of the last frontier settlements, and in particular, its association with the people who promoted the establishment of the Chiricahua National Monument. Faraway Ranch is located in Bonita Canyon, which lies at an approximate altitude of 5160 feet and opens in a southwesterly direction into the Sulphur Springs Valley.
The Muscatine Avenue Moffitt Cottage Historic District is a National Register of Historic Places district that includes five stone cottages in Iowa City epitomizing the eccentric vernacular architectural style of Howard Moffitt. Moffitt constructed more than 100 houses in Iowa City and Coralville, Iowa and a few in Citrus City, Texas. These small houses represent one of the regional 20th century vernacular architectural styles in the United States. Howard Moffitt was a prolific builder.
Crawford Depot, also known as Maine Central Passenger Railway Station, is a historic passenger railroad station at the top of Crawford Notch in the Bretton Woods area of the town of Carroll, New Hampshire. Built in 1891, it is a surviving emblem of the importance of the railroad in the area's history as a tourist destination, and is one of the finest examples of Queen Anne railroad architecture in northern New England. Now home to a visitors center operated by the Appalachian Mountain Club, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is also the northern terminus of most trains on the "Notch Train" service of the Conway Scenic Railroad.
The Abial Cushman Store is a historic commercial building at 2766 Lee Road in Lee, Maine. Built in 1840, it is one of the rural community's few surviving 19th-century commercial buildings, and one of its few examples of Greek Revival architecture.
The Odd Fellows-Rebekah Hall is a historic form fraternal society hall on High Street in Cornish, Maine. Built in 1902 for the local chapter of the International Order of Odd Fellows and their associated Rebekah women's chapter, it is an architecturally eclectic mix of vernacular and high-style elements. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, and now functions as a community meeting space.
The Mikulich General Store is a commercial building located at the junction of County Roads 1 and 44 in Limestone Township, Traunik, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993 and designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1987.
The John Watson House, also known as the Intervale Farm, is a historic house on Benny Babb Hill Road in Hiram, Maine. Built in 1785 by one of Hiram's first settlers, it is now the oldest building in the town, and is a well-preserved example of late Georgian architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
The Larsson–Noak Historic District encompasses a collection of buildings constructed by Swedish immigrants to northern Maine between about 1888 and 1930. The district is focused on a cluster of four buildings on Station Road, northeast of the center of New Sweden, Maine. Notable among these is the c. 1888 Larsson-Ostlund House, which is the only known two-story log house built using Swedish construction techniques in the state. Across the street is the c. 1900 Noak Blacksmith Shop, a virtually unaltered building housing original equipment. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
Elden's Store is a historic commercial building on Long Plains Road in the center of Buxton, Maine. Built in 1802, it is the oldest commercial building in the rural community, and is one of the few historic brick commercial buildings in western York County. The building, which is now owned by the local historical society, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
The Grant Family House is a historic house at 72 Grant Street in Saco, Maine. Built in 1825, the house is a fine local example of Federal period architecture, but is most notable for an extensive series of well-preserved stenciled artwork on the walls of its hall and main parlor. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
The Jacobs Houses and Store are a collection of three Federal-period historic buildings at 9-17 Elm Street in Saco, Maine. Built between 1820 and 1826, there are two similar wood-frame houses and a large brick commercial building, all associated with the Jacobs family, local businessmen. The buildings were listed as a group on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
The Salmon Falls (East) Historic District encompasses a node of rural development in western Buxton, Maine. It includes thirteen historic properties, mainly Greek Revival in character, extending north along Maine State Route 117, north of its junction with Simpson Road, and two on the latter street, that were all built between about 1800 and 1850. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
The Salmon Falls (West) Historic District encompasses a cluster of well-preserved buildings built before 1840, and located on the Hollis, Maine side of the rural village of Salmon Falls. In addition to its architectural significance, the area is also noted for its association with the author Kate Douglas Wiggin, whose home, Quillcote, is in the district, as is the Salmon Falls Library, established by her efforts in 1911. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
The Union Meeting House, also known as the Whiting Community Church, is a historic church building at 153 United States Route 1 in Whiting, Maine. Built in 1836, it is a distinctive local example of transitional Federal-Greek Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
The Schlotterbeck and Foss Building is an historic factory building at 117 Preble Street in Portland, Maine. Built in 1927, it is a particularly rare example of Art Deco architecture in Portland, the only one known by the noted Maine architects John Calvin Stevens and John Howard Stevens. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
The New Center Commercial Historic District is a commercial historic district located on Woodward Avenue between Baltimore Street and Grand Boulevard in Detroit, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
The Alhambra Apartments is a historic building located in Sioux City, Iowa, United States. The city experienced a building boom in 1929, and this building was constructed at that time by American Builders Incorporated of Lincoln, Nebraska. It was one of five apartment buildings built in the city that year, and based on the cost of construction it was the largest. The six-story U-shaped building rests on top of an underground parking garage. The residents could access the garage by way of an elevator. The building is composed of reinforced concrete faced with tan brick and terra cotta trim. Its design is an eclectic mix of architectural styles with Moorish influences. The Alhambra is located in a residential called the Near North-Side, just outside of the central business district. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
The Checker Cab Building was built as a garage and office building located at 2128 Trumbull Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. The building has been rehabilitated into residences, and is now part of the Elton Park lofts.
