The Sycamore Historic District is a meandering area encompassing 99 acres (400,000 m2) of the land in and around the downtown of the DeKalb County, Illinois, county seat, Sycamore. The area includes historic buildings and a number of historical and Victorian homes. Some significant structures are among those located within the Historic District including the DeKalb County Courthouse and the Sycamore Public Library. The district has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 2, 1978.
The Eaker Site (3MS105) is an archaeological site on Eaker Air Force Base near Blytheville, Arkansas that was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1996. The site is the largest and most intact Late Mississippian Nodena Phase village site within the Central Mississippi Valley, with archaeological evidence indicating a palisaded village some 50 acres (20 ha) in size, with hundreds of structures. The site's major period of occupation was 1350–1450 CE, although evidence of occupation dates back to 600 CE. The site is also hypothesized to have been occupied by the Quapaw prior to a migration further south, after which they made contact with Europeans in the late 17th century.
The Spring Hill Historic District is a historic district roughly bounded by Summer, Central, Atherton, and Spring Streets in the Spring Hill area of Somerville, Massachusetts. The district encompasses the city's best-preserved residential subdivision from the mid-19th century, with later infill construction in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
The Perry Street Historic District encompasses a fine collection of early-20th century architecture in Helena–West Helena, Arkansas. It includes fifteen buildings, arrayed on the single city blocks stretching south and west from the junction of Perry and Pecan Streets. The buildings on these blocks represent a cross-section of private and public architecture spanning 1880–1930, including two churches, the only synagogue in Phillips County, and the county's oldest public building, the 1879 Helena Library and Museum. Most of the residences in the district were built between 1900 and the 1920s. Although most of the residential architecture is Arts and Crafts in style, it includes two fine Queen Anne Victorians: the Moore House at 608 Perry and the William Nicholas Straub House at 531 Perry.
The Governor's Mansion Historic District is a historic district covering a large historic neighborhood of Little Rock, Arkansas. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and its borders were increased in 1988 and again in 2002. The district is notable for the large number of well-preserved late 19th and early 20th-century houses, and includes a major cross-section of residential architecture designed by the noted Little Rock architect Charles L. Thompson. It is the oldest city neighborhood to retain its residential character.
The Argenta Historic District encompasses significant historic elements of central North Little Rock, Arkansas. The area that is now central North Little Rock was known as Argenta when it was first settled, and remained unincorporated until it was annexed to Little Rock in 1890. William Faucette, a leading Argenta politician and businessman, orchestrated the incorporation of North Little Rock just beyond the annexed area in 1901, and then made a successful petition to separate Argenta from Little Rock into the new municipality in 1903. Subsequent attempts to rename North Little Rock to Argenta have failed.
The Torringford Street Historic District is a historic district on the east side of the city of Torrington, Connecticut. The district includes properties along Torringford Street, the main thoroughfare of the Torringford section of the city, between United States Route 202 and West Hill Road. The road is one of the oldest in Torrington, and this section is notable for containing a cross-section of well-preserved architecture from the 18th to the mid-20th centuries. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
The Hillside Historic District in Waterbury, Connecticut is a 106-acre (43 ha) historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1987. It encompasses a residential area north of the city's central business district, and is bounded on the south by West Main Street, the west by Willow Avenue and Cliff and Frederick Streets, on the north by Buckingham Street and Woodland Terrace, and on the east by Cook Street. Developed principally over an 80-year period between 1840 and 1920, it includes a cross-section of architectural styles of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The area was a desirable neighborhood of the city for much of this time, and was home to a number of the city's elite. In 1987, it included 395 buildings deemed to contribute to the historic character of the area, and one other contributing structure. It includes the Wilby High School and the Benedict-Miller House, which are both separately listed. 32 Hillside Road, a several acre property that includes the Benedict Miller House, was the original site of The University of Connecticut's Waterbury Branch until 2003.
The Orange Street Historic District encompasses a large residential in the East Rock section of New Haven, Connecticut. Roughly bounded by Orange, Cottage, Eagle, State, and Audubon Streets, this area saw growth between about 1830 and 1900, and includes a broad diversity of well-preserved 19th-century residential structures. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1985. At that time, it included 546 buildings deemed to contribute to the historic character of the area.
The Washington Street Historic District encompasses a residential area of Middletown, Connecticut that has a long history as a fashionable and desirable neighborhood. Extending along Washington Street and Washington Terrace between Main and Jackson Streets, the area has a broad diversity of residential architecture dating from 1752 to 1931, reflecting the city's patterns of growth. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
The Helena Historic District (HHD) is a federally designated historic district in Helena, Montana, United States. Since its establishment in 1972, the HHD has had boundary adjustments in 1990 and 1993. The original 1972 designation was composed of two unconnected sections known as "Downtown" and "West Residential".
The Green Street Historic District is a historic district in Marion, Alabama. It is centered on West Green Street and includes examples of American Craftsman, Greek Revival, and Federal style architecture. It contains 33 structures, dating from the mid-1830s to the present, with 24 of them listed as contributing buildings. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 30, 1979.
The Monticello Commercial Historic District encompasses a portion of the historic business district of Monticello, the seat of Drew County, Arkansas. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.
The Blytheville Commercial Historic District encompasses most of the central business district of Blytheville, Arkansas, one of the two county seats of Mississippi County. It extends along Main Street between 5th and Franklin Streets, and along Ash Street between 5th and 2nd. Most of the 39 buildings in the district were built between 1890 and 1956, in three phases of development. The two oldest buildings in the district, both dating to c. 1890, are at 112 West Main and 106 East Main. The building traditionally viewed as the anchor of the downtown area is the Kirby-Heath building at the corner of Main and 2nd, built 1901.
The Kress Building is a historic commercial building at 210 West Main Street in Blytheville, Arkansas. It is a two-story concrete and steel structure, faced in brick and terra cotta. Built in 1938, it was one of the first buildings in the city to be built using steel framing, and is one of its finest Art Deco structures. The first floor areas are faced in terra cotta, while the second floor is predominantly cream-colored brick. Windows on the second floor are surrounded by ivory terra cotta incised with fluting and shell patterns.
The Walnut Ridge Commercial Historic District encompasses the historic town center of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, the county seat of Lawrence County. The district includes a four-block stretch of Main Street on the northwest side of the railroad tracks, and extends for one and sometimes two blocks on either side. Walnut Ridge was founded as a railroad town in 1875, and soon became a leading economic center in the county. Most of its historic downtown consists of vernacular commercial architecture dating to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, built of masonry and brick, and one or two stories in height. Notable buildings include the 1924 Swan Theatre at 222 West Main Street, the 1935 Old Walnut Ridge Post Office at 225 West Main, and the 1965 Lawrence County Courthouse at 315 West Main, which replaced a c. 1900 structure.
The Calais Residential Historic District encompasses the town's best collection of well-preserved 19th-century residences in Calais, Maine. Located on Calais Street and Main Street, the district includes twenty properties developed between the early 19th century and 1900. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
The Orono Main Street Historic District encompasses a well-preserved collection of predominantly residential 19th century buildings in Orono, Maine. It extends along Main Street's west side between Maplewood Avenue and Goodridge Road, and on the east side between Spencer and Pine Streets. The area was part of Orono's early settlement, and of a period of rapid growth in the first half of the 19th century. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
The South Main Street Residential Historic District encompasses a residential area south of downtown Little Rock, Arkansas. The area, extending along South Main Street roughly between 19th and 23rd Streets, was developed between about 1880 and 1945, and includes a well-preserved set of residential architecture from that period. Notable buildings include the Luxor Apartments, the Holcomb Court Apartments, and the Ada Thompson Memorial Home.
The Elm Street Historic District encompasses a colonial-era roadway layout and a cross-section of historical residential architecture styles in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. Elm Street between Silas Deane Highway and Grimes Road is an old colonial road, laid out in the late 17th century, and has retained an unusually wide right-of-way, typical for the period but rarely preserved. The houses lining it date from 1769 to the 1930s. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
