The Dagombas are a Gur ethnic group of northern Ghana, numbering more than 2.3 million people. They inhabit the Northern Region of Ghana in the sparse savanna region below the sahelian belt, known as the Sudan. They speak the Dagbani language which belongs to the Mole-Dagbani sub-group of the Gur languages. There are around 1 to 2 million speakers of Dagbani. The Dagomba are historically related to the Mossi people. The Mohi/Mossi now have their homeland in central present-day Burkina Faso. The homeland of the Dagomba is called Dagbon and covers about 20,000 km2 in area.

The district assembly is located in the southwest part of Central Region and has Essakyir as its capital town.
Savelugu-Nanton Municipal District is a former district that was located in Northern Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988; which was created from the former West Dagomba District Council. It was later elevated to municipal district assembly status on 1 March 2012. However on 28 June 2012, it was split off into two new districts: Savelugu Municipal District and Nanton District. The municipality was located in the eastern part of Northern Region and had Nanton as its capital town.
Tamale Metropolitan District is one of the sixteen districts in Northern Region, Ghana. Originally created as an municipal district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Tamale Municipal District, which was created from the former West Dagomba District Council, until it was elevated to metropolitan district assembly status in August 2004. Later, a small northern part of the district was split off to create Sagnarigu District on 24 June 2012 ; thus the remaining part has been retained as Tamale Metropolitan District. The metropolis is located in the northwest part of Northern Region and has Ghana as its capital city. The metro poly is the central business hub of the region.
West Mamprusi Municipal Assembly is one of the six districts in North East Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as West Mamprusi District, which was created from the former Mamprusi District Council, until the western part of the district was split off on 28 June 2012 to create Mamprugu-Moagduri District; thus the remaining part has been retained as West Mamprusi District. However, on 15 March 2018, it was elevated to municipal district assembly status to become West Mamprusi Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of North East Region and has Walewale as its capital town. Other settlements within the municipal assembly include Wulugu.
Nanumba South District is one of the sixteen districts in Northern Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Nanumba District in 1988, until the southern part of the district was split to off to create Nanumba South District on 27 August 2004; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Nanumba North District. The district assembly is located in the eastern part of Eastern Region and has Wulensi as its capital town.
Sekyere Afram Plains District is one of the forty-three districts in Ashanti Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Sekyere East District, which was created from the former Sekyere District Council. Later, a large portion of the district was split off to create the 1st Sekyere Afram Plains District on 1 November 2007, with Kumawu as its capital town. However on 28 June 2012, the Afram Plains area of the district was split off to create the new Sekyere Afram Plains District, with Dobrosno as its capital town; while the remaining part has since then been officially renamed as Sekyere Kumawu District, with Kumawu as its capital town. The district assembly is located in the eastern part of Ashanti Region and has Drobosno as its capital town.
Ga West Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Ga District in 1988, until the eastern part of the district was split off to create Ga East District in 2004; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Ga West District. Later, the western part of the district was split off to create the first Ga South Municipal District on 29 February 2008, with Weija as its capital town; while Ga West was later elevated to municipal district assembly status during that same year to become Ga West Municipal District. However on 15 March 2018, the eastern part of the district has split off to create Ga North Municipal District, thus the remaining part has been retained as Ga West Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of Greater Accra Region and has Amasaman as its capital town.
Zabzugu-Tatale is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. It is located in the Northern Region of Ghana. The current member of Parliament for the constituency is Jabaah John Bennam. He was elected on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and won a majority of 6,654 votes more than candidate closest in the race, to win the constituency election to become the MP. He succeeded Mohammed Jagrihad represented the constituency in the 4th Republican parliament on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.
Zabzugu is a small town and is the capital of Zabzugu district, a district in the Northern Region of north Ghana. It has a nucleated settlement and less populated. Most of the people there are farmers and their main produce is Yam.

Tatale is a commercial town in Tatale Sangule District in the Northern Region of Ghana. Layout of the town is part nuclear and part linear. Its inhabitants are diverse in ethnicity with the Basares who speak Ntcham as their official language being the majority. The only Senior High School in the district is Tatale Evangelical Presbyterian Agric Senior High School. Market day in Tatale occurs once a week and is attended by many people from both far and near communities including Togoles. The Zambarama people are frequent in the market center every week and the district is largely rural, with approximately 90% of the population engaged in local agriculture, hence subsistence agriculture is the economic norm in the Tatale Sangule district.

However on 1988, it was split off into four new district assemblies: Yendi Municipal District, Gushegu-Karaga District, Saboba-Chereponi District and Zabzugu-Tatale District. The district assembly was located in the eastern part of Northern Region and had Yendi as its capital town.
