The 1980 Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council election took place on 1 May 1980 to elect members of Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council in England. ^[2] This election was held on the same day as other local elections.

The first third of the council was up for election to new boundaries. ^[3]

Every councillor was assigned a new ward before the election took place. ^[4]
