
South Yorkshire is a ceremonial and metropolitan county governed as a combined authority in north-central England. It had a population of 1.34 million in 2011 and has an area of 1,552 square kilometres (599 sq mi). The county consists of four metropolitan boroughs—the City of Sheffield and the boroughs of Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham—collectively administered by a directly-elected mayor.

The Metropolitan Borough of Wirral is a metropolitan borough of Merseyside, in North West England. It has a population of 321,238, and encompasses 60 square miles (160 km2) of the northern part of the Wirral Peninsula. Major settlements include Birkenhead, Wallasey, Bebington, Heswall, Hoylake and West Kirby. The city of Liverpool faces the northeastern side of Wirral over the Mersey.

At 219 sq miles, it is the largest metropolitan borough in England by area.

Doncaster North is a constituency in South Yorkshire, England, represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2005 by Ed Miliband of the Labour Party. From 2010 until 2015, he was Leader of the Opposition before he lost the 2015 general election to David Cameron and the Conservatives. Part of the red wall, it was formerly a Labour stronghold, until the 2019 general election when it became a Labour-Conservative marginal.
