The 2006 Castle Point Borough Council election took place on 4 May 2006 to elect members of Castle Point Borough Council in Essex, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative party stayed in overall control of the council. [1]

The Conservative party stayed in control of the council but lost 5 seats on Canvey Island to the Canvey Island Independent Party. [3] The Conservatives won all 8 mainland seats that were contested, while the Canvey Island Independent Party won 5 of the 6 seats on the island. [4]

The Canvey Island Independent Party (CIIP) is a local political party active on Canvey Island, in Essex, England. It was established in 2004 to campaign for a separate district council for Canvey Island.

The People's Independent Party (PIP) is a political party based in Castle Point, England. Formed in 2021 by independent councillor Steven Cole and registered in 2023, PIP sought to prevent a Local Plan to build 5,000 homes in the borough, mostly on Green Belt, by taking control of the council from the ruling Conservatives. The party also focuses on expanding activities for children and pushing for consultation on streetlights being turned back on between 1am and 5am. At formation, the party was joined by four councillors, all originally elected as independents. Cllr Warren Gibson, Cllr Steve Mountford and Cllr Russ Savage.

The 2024 Castle Point Borough Council election is scheduled to be held on Thursday 2 May 2024, alongside the other local elections in the United Kingdom being held on the same day. All 39 members of Castle Point Borough Council in Essex will be elected following boundary changes.
