<span class="mw-page-title-main">Harlow</span> Town and local government district in England

Harlow is a large town and local government district located in the west of Essex, England. Founded as a new town, it is situated on the border with Hertfordshire and London, Harlow occupies a large area of land on the south bank of the upper Stort Valley, which has been made navigable through other towns and features a canal section near its watermill. Old Harlow is a historic village founded by the early medieval age and most of its high street buildings are early Victorian and residential, mostly protected by one of the Conservation Areas in the district. In Old Harlow is a field named Harlowbury, a de-settled monastic area which has the remains of a chapel, a scheduled ancient monument.

One third of Harlow District Council in Essex, England, is elected each year, followed by one year when there is an election to Essex County Council instead. Since the last boundary changes in 2002, 33 councillors have been elected from 11 wards.

The 2010 Harlow District Council election took place on 6 May 2010 to elect members of Harlow District Council in Essex, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative party stayed in overall control of the council.

The 1973 Harlow District Council election, on 7 June 1973, was the first election to the newly created Harlow District Council. This was on the same day as other local elections. The Local Government Act 1972 stipulated that the elected members were to shadow and eventually take over from the predecessor corporation on 1 April 1974. The election resulted in Labour gaining control of the council.
