The 2006 Westminster City Council election took place on 4 May 2006 to elect members of Westminster City Council in London, England. The whole council was up for election and the Conservative Party remained in control of the council with no seat changes between the Conservatives and Labour. [1] [2]

The Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) is a unionist political party in Northern Ireland. The party was founded in 1905, emerging from the Irish Unionist Alliance in Ulster. Under Edward Carson, it led unionist opposition to the Irish Home Rule movement. Following the partition of Ireland, it was the governing party of Northern Ireland between 1921 and 1972. It was supported by most unionist voters throughout the conflict known as the Troubles, during which time it was often referred to as the Official Unionist Party (OUP).
Birmingham City Council is the local government body responsible for the governance of the City of Birmingham in England, which has been a metropolitan district since 1974. It is the most populated local council area in the United Kingdom with 101 elected councillors representing over one million people, in 69 wards. The council headquarters are at the Council House in the city centre. The council is responsible for running nearly all local services, with the exception of those run by joint boards. The provision of certain services has in recent years been devolved to several council constituencies, which each have a constituency committee made up of councillors from that district. It is part of the West Midlands Combined Authority.
Karen Patricia Buck is a British politician serving as Member of Parliament (MP) for Westminster North, previously Regent's Park and Kensington North, since 1997. A member of the Labour Party, she was Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport from 2005 to 2006 and has served as Shadow Minister for Social Security since 2020.
Westminster City Council is the local authority for the City of Westminster in Greater London, England. The city is divided into 20 wards, each electing three councillors. The council is currently composed of 31 Labour Party members and 23 Conservative Party members. The council was created by the London Government Act 1963 and replaced three local authorities: Paddington Metropolitan Borough Council, St Marylebone Metropolitan Borough Council and Westminster Borough Council.
Christopher Laurie "Kit" Malthouse is a British politician and businessman who served as Secretary of State for Education from 6 September to 25 October 2022. A member of the Conservative Party, he previously served as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster from July to September 2022. He has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for North West Hampshire since 2015.
The politics of the Highland council area in Scotland are evident in the deliberations and decisions of the Highland Council, in elections to the council, and in elections to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (Westminster) and the Scottish Parliament (Holyrood). In the European Parliament the area was within the Scotland constituency, which covers all of the 32 council areas of Scotland.
There are four types of elections in Wales: elections to the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, elections to the devolved Senedd, local elections to the 22 principal areas, and the Police and Crime Commissioner elections, in addition to by-elections for each aforementioned election. Elections are held on Election Day, which is conventionally a Thursday. Since the passing of the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011 for UK general elections, all four types of elections are held after fixed periods, though early elections to the UK parliament can occur in certain situations, with Senedd elections being postponed to avoid elections to the UK parliament and Senedd coinciding with each other.
Church Street is an electoral ward of the City of Westminster. The population at the 2011 Census was 11,760. The ward covers the eponymous street market and the surrounding area of Lisson Grove, to the north of the Edgware Road. The area is currently the focus of regeneration plans by the council.
Westminster City Council, the local authority of the City of Westminster in London, England, is elected every four years. Since the last boundary changes in 2002, 60 councillors have been elected from 20 wards. Lee Benjamin Rowley is a British politician and former management consultant serving as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Local Government and Building Safety since 2022. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been Member of Parliament (MP) for North East Derbyshire since 2017. He previously served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Business and Industry between 2021 and 2022.
Anthony Stuart Devenish is a British politician serving as the member of the London Assembly for West Central since 2016. A member of the Conservative Party, he is also a councillor on Westminster City Council, representing the Knightsbridge and Belgravia ward.
The 2018 Westminster City Council elections were held on 3 May 2018, the same day as other London Boroughs. All 60 seats were up for election along with the 12 seats of Queen's Park Community Council, the parish council in the north west of the city. Despite initial expectations of Labour gains across the borough, the Conservative Party were able to hold the council and only lost 3 seats. The Conservatives won the popular vote across the borough by a small margin of 923 votes (1.7%), but nonetheless won a decisive victory in terms of seats, winning 41 councillors to Labour's 19.
Nicola Jane Aiken is a British Conservative Party politician serving as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Cities of London and Westminster since 2019. She was the leader of Westminster City Council from 2017 to 2020.
The 2022 London local elections took place on 5 May 2022, as part of the 2022 United Kingdom local elections. All London borough councillor seats were up for election. Mayoral elections took place in Hackney, Lewisham, Newham and Tower Hamlets, with Croydon electing a mayor for the first time following a local referendum in October 2021.
Local elections in the United Kingdom took place on 5 May 2022. These included elections for all London borough councils, for all local authorities in Wales and Scotland. Most seats in England were last up for election in 2018 and in Scotland and Wales in 2017. The elections coincided with the 2022 Northern Ireland Assembly election. In 91 cases, most of them in Wales, council seats were uncontested, each having only one candidate. Three seats in Scotland remained unfilled as no one nominated to fill them.

Little Venice is an electoral ward of the City of Westminster. The population at the 2011 Census was 10,633. The ward covers the area south of Maida Vale and north of Paddington, bound by the Westway, Edgware Road and Grand Union canal. The Regent's Canal runs through the ward to Little Venice basin, and it is served by Warwick Avenue station on the Bakerloo line, in addition to several bus routes running through the area. There are three primary schools, St Joseph's RC Primary School, St Saviour's CofE Primary School and Ark Paddington Green Primary Academy, and one GP surgery in the ward.
The 2006 Birmingham City Council election took place on 4 May 2006 to elect members of Birmingham City Council in West Midlands, England. One third of the council was up for election, with an extra vacancy in Kingstanding due to pending legal proceedings. The result for Kingstanding was the subject of an election petition after errors at the count led to Sharon Ebanks (BNP) being wrongly declared elected.
