Elections for Coventry City Council were held on Thursday 1 May 2008. As the council is elected by thirds, one seat in each of the wards was up for election.
The Labour Party gained two seats (Radford, whose sitting councillor had been elected for Labour but later switched parties, and Foleshill) from the Conservative Party and the Conservatives gained one seat (Westwood) from Labour.
The Conservative Party lost overall control of the council, but remained the ruling party, with half of the seats.

Coventry North West is a constituency in the city of Coventry represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Taiwo Owatemi of the Labour Party.
David John Nellist is a British Trotskyist activist who was the MP for the constituency of Coventry South East from 1983 to 1992. Elected as a Labour MP, his support for the Militant tendency led to his eventual expulsion from the party in late 1991. He is the National Chair of the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC), a member of the Socialist Party, and was a city councillor in Coventry from 1998 to 2012.

Elections for Coventry City Council were held on Thursday, 3 May 2012, the same day as other 2012 local elections in the United Kingdom. As the council is elected by thirds, one seat in each of the city's 18 wards was up for election. The Labour Party won the seat in 15 of the wards, gaining a total of 8 and increasing their majority to 32 seats. The Conservative Party won the remaining three seats, losing six, with the Liberal Democrats and the Socialist Party both losing their only seat on the council.
The 2012 City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council election took place on 3 May 2012. The elections took place shortly after the Bradford West by-election, in which the Respect Party's George Galloway pulled off a shock victory against the incumbent Labour Party. Held alongside was a referendum on directly elected mayors. The Labour Party were one seat short of an overall majority following the election, leaving the council in no overall control.
The 2014 Plymouth City Council election took place on 22 May 2014 to elect members of Plymouth City Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections. The election was won by the Labour Party, who maintained their overall majority. The UK Independence Party gained representation on the council for the first time, and this was the only election in which the party won seats in Plymouth.
The 2021 Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council election was held on 6 May 2021 as part of the 2021 United Kingdom local elections and alongside elections for Warwickshire County Council and Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner. Half of the borough council seats were up for election and the results provided the Conservative Party with a majority on the council, with the party winning all but two seats up for election.
Elections to the City of Edinburgh Council took place on 5 May 2022 on the same day as the 31 other Scottish local government elections. As with other Scottish council elections, it was held using single transferable vote (STV) – a form of proportional representation – in which multiple candidates are elected in each ward and voters rank candidates in order of preference.
The 2022 Coventry City Council election took place on 5 May 2022. One third of councillors — 18 out of 54 — on Coventry City Council were elected. The election took place alongside other local elections across the United Kingdom.
The 2022 Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council election was held on 5 May 2022 to elect members of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council. Seventeen seats of the thirty-four seats on the council were elected, as part of the wider 2022 local elections.
The 2024 Coventry City Council election was held predominately on 2 May 2024 alongside the other local elections across the United Kingdom being held on the same day, with one ward's election additionally being held a month later on 20 June 2024. The results mirrored Labour's strong showing across the country, taking three seats from the Conservatives and increasing their comfortable majority on the council.
