The 2012 FIA Formula 3 European Championship was the first edition of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. It began at Hockenheim on 28 April, and finished on 21 October at the same venue after ten meetings, held jointly with the Formula 3 Euro Series and the British Formula Three Championship.

Prize tests

The top drivers in the final championship standings will be rewarded with a wide range of prize tests in various other racing categories. The top three drivers will receive a two-day test in a Formula Two car. As well as that, the champion will receive a Formula One test with Scuderia Ferrari, and the runner-up will receive a Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters test. [1]

Race calendar and results

A ten-round calendar was announced on 15 March 2012; made up of seven rounds at Formula 3 Euro Series events, two British Formula 3 events at Pau and Spa-Francorchamps, [1] with the Norisring round being run as a championship round in both series. [19]

  2. Daniel Juncadella was disqualified from the first Norisring race after collisions with Pascal Wehrlein and Raffaele Marciello. The officials chose not to recognise any driver as having finished in first place. [20]

Championship standings

The second race at the Norisring was red-flagged after half the race had been completed due to torrential rain. As a result, series organisers only awarded half points to each of the classified finishers eligible to score points. [21]

    The 2008 Formula 3 Euro Series season was the sixth championship year of Europe's premier Formula Three series. The season was dominated by 21-year-old German Nico Hülkenberg, who won seven of the season's ten feature races amassing 76 of his total of 85 championship points on Saturday afternoons. He won the championship by 35.5 points from early frontrunner Edoardo Mortara as the 2007's rookie cup winner's season somewhat tailed off after the Norisring, scoring just 9.5 points in the final twelve races compared to Hülkenberg's 60.     Prema Racing is a motorsport team from Italy. It operates in the FIA Formula 2 Championship and FIA Formula 3 Championship as well as various junior championships. In 2022 the team made its FIA World Endurance Championship and European Le Mans Series entries, beginning the efforts in the endurance racing. The team was founded in 1983 and is located in Grisignano di Zocco, in the Veneto region. Prema has been a talent pool for several Formula 1 junior programs, from Toyota and Renault in the early days to Alpine, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull, and Williams in recent years. For 2023, the team will enter nine championships, fielding a total of 28 drivers.

    The 2010 Formula 3 Euro Series season was the eighth championship year of the Formula 3 Euro Series. It began on 10 April at Circuit Paul Ricard and finished on 17 October at Hockenheim after eighteen races at nine meetings. Grids for the 2010 season were substantially down on the previous season; with a maximum of sixteen drivers taking part in any of the season's meetings, after teams Manor Motorsport, SG Formula, Carlin Motorsport, HBR Motorsport and Kolles & Heinz Union all pulled out to focus on other series.

    Raffaele "Lello" Marciello is a Swiss-born Italian professional racing driver. A former member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, he was the 2013 European Formula Three Champion, a reserve and test driver for the Sauber Formula One team in 2015, and spent three seasons competing in the GP2 Series. He switched to GT racing in 2017 and became a works Mercedes-AMG driver ahead of the 2018 campaign. In 2022, Marciello earned his first major endurance race victory by winning the Spa 24 Hours.

    The 2012 Macau Grand Prix Formula Three was a motor race for Formula Three cars that was held on the streets of Macau on 18 November 2012. Unlike other races, such as the Pau Grand Prix, the 2012 Macau Grand Prix was not a part of any Formula Three championship, but was open to entries from all Formula Three championships. The race itself was made up of two races: a ten-lap qualifying race that decided the starting grid for the fifteen-lap main race. The 2012 race was the 59th running of the Macau Grand Prix, the 30th race for Formula Three cars, and was supported by the World Touring Car Championship Guia Race of Macau.

    Luís Jorge Sá Silva is an Angolan racing driver. He competes under a Macanese competition licence, as the Angolan motorsport federation is not recognised by the FIA to issue the Grade A competition license that he requires.

    The 2014 FIA Formula 3 European Championship was a multi-event motor racing championship for single-seat open wheel formula racing cars that held across Europe. The championship featured drivers competing in two-litre Formula Three racing cars built by Italian constructor Dallara which conformed to the technical regulations, or formula, for the championship. It was the third edition of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. Raffaele Marciello was the reigning drivers' champion, but he did not defend his title as he stepped up to the GP2 Series. His team, Prema Powerteam represented in the Teams' championship by Esteban Ocon and Antonio Fuoco, defended their Teams' title.
