The 2020 Formula Regional European Championship was a multi-event, Formula 3 open-wheel single seater motor racing championship held across Europe. The championship featured a mix of professional and amateur drivers, competing in Formula 3 cars that conformed to the FIA Formula 3 regulations for the championship. This was the second season of the championship.
The season started on 31 July at Misano Circuit and concluded on 6 December at Autodromo Vallelunga, after eight meetings. Gianluca Petecof won the drivers' championship at the last race, while Prema Powerteam defended the teams' title. Although Petecof came out victorious in the championship, he did not amass the highest number of race wins, with four compared to his teammates' Arthur Leclerc and Oliver Rasmussen six victories. Patrik Pasma also won four races, and Pierre-Louis Chovet, Dennis Hauger and Ian Rodríguez all won one race each.
All teams and drivers competed with the Tatuus-Alfa Romeo F.3 T-318. [1]

The initial calendar was announced on 16 September 2019. [22] After multiple postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a revised calendar was announced on 19 May 2020. [23] On 3 June 2020 it was announced that the season opener at Hungaroring was pushed back 2 weeks. [24] The current version of the amended calendar was published on 11 June 2020 and saw the round at the Hungaroring replaced by a visit to Misano Circuit. [25]
Points were awarded to the top 10 classified finishers in each race. No points were awarded for pole position or fastest lap.

Prema Racing is a motorsport team from Italy. It operates in the FIA Formula 2 Championship and FIA Formula 3 Championship as well as various junior championships. In 2022 the team made its FIA World Endurance Championship and European Le Mans Series entries, beginning the efforts in the endurance racing. The team was founded in 1983 and is located in Grisignano di Zocco, in the Veneto region. Prema has been a talent pool for several Formula 1 junior programs, from Toyota and Renault in the early days to Alpine, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull, and Williams in recent years. For 2023, the team will enter nine championships, fielding a total of 28 drivers.

The European Championship began on 31 March in Valencia, while the Italian Championship commenced on 9 June at Mugello. They finished together on 21 October at Monza.

The 2019 Italian F4 Championship Powered by Abarth was the sixth season of the Italian F4 Championship. Norwegian driver Dennis Hauger dominated the championship, winning twelve out of the 21 races, helping his team Van Amersfoort Racing to become teams' champions. The rookie championship was won by Mercedes junior Paul Aron, who won two races in the overall championship. Hauger's closest challenger Gianluca Petecof won four races, and Roman Staněk, Joshua Dürksen and Giorgio Carrara won one race each.

The championship was the fifty-fifth season of Formula 2 racing and the fifth season run under the FIA Formula 2 Championship moniker. It was an open-wheel racing category that served as the second tier of formula racing in the FIA Global Pathway. The category was run in support of selected rounds of the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship. As the championship was a spec series, all teams and drivers competing in the championship ran the same car, the Dallara F2 2018. He is the 2020 Italian F4 Champion, and was runner-up during the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship. He is a member of the Alpine Academy.
Gianluca de Castro Petecof is a Brazilian racing driver. He currently competes full-time in the Brazilian Stock Car Pro Series, driving the No. 101 Toyota Corolla E210 for Full Time Sports. He was champion of the Formula Regional European Championship in 2020, and has competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Campos Racing.
Dino Beganovic is a Swedish-Bosnian racing driver, set to compete in the 2024 FIA Formula 3 Championship with Prema Racing. He was the 2022 Formula Regional European champion. He is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy.
Alessandro Famularo is a Venezuelan racing driver who last competed in the 2022 FIA Formula 3 Championship for Charouz Racing System. He has previously raced in the Formula Regional European Championship for Van Amersfoort Racing and G4 Racing, and is an ADAC Formula 4 race winner.
