The Formula Regional Japanese Championship is a Japanese formula racing championship held under FIA Formula Regional car regulations. Announced by the Japan Automobile Federation on 26 December 2019, it was confirmed that K2 Planet, promoter of Super Taikyu Series, would organise the championship starting in the 2020 season. The top nine finishing drivers in the championship receive FIA Super License points. [1] [2]

Car

The championship utilizes a spec chassis for all competitors, this being the DOME F111/3 chassis. The car will be powered by a single-make 270 hp turbo engine provided by Autotecnica. [3]

The championship features drivers competing in two-litre Formula 3 racing cars which conform to the technical regulations, or formula, for the championship. The Formula Regional Asian Championship was an FIA-certified regional Formula 3 racing series, which started in 2018. On 26 January 2018 it was confirmed that pan-Asian promoter Top Speed would organise the championship. Despite using Formula Regional cars since its establishment, the series was called F3 Asian Championship for four years until it was eventually rebranded in December 2021, when the FIA brought an end to F3 as a category.

The Formula Regional Americas Championship powered by Honda is an FIA Formula Regional racing series that competes in the United States, with plans in the future to race in Canada and Mexico. The championship is sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing, the professional racing division of the Sports Car Club of America, in conjunction with the Automobile Competition Committee for the United States, the United States representative to the FIA. Starting in 2020 the champion will win a scholarship to compete in Indy Lights. The F3 Americas Championship updated its name to Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda in 2020.

The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) is a FIA-certified regional European Formula 3 racing series. On 12 October 2018, it was announced that the Italian autosport regulator Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) and karting promoter WSK would organize the inaugural year of the championship in 2019. Their bid was chosen over Renault Sport's bid with the same chassis, who attracted fewer votes from Single-Seater Commission members. Following the 2020 season, the Formula Renault Eurocup merged with the Formula Regional European Championship to become the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

The 2020 Japanese Super Formula Championship was the forty-eighth season of premier Japanese open-wheel motor racing, and the eighth under the moniker of Super Formula.

The 2020 Super Formula Lights Championship was the first Super Formula Lights Championship season, after the Japanese Formula 3 Championship was rebranded following the end of the 2019 season. It was rebranded because of FIA nomenclature regulations and a switch to Euroformula Open Championship specification Dallara 320 chassis and similar regulations, which are different from FIA-approved Formula Regional.

Super Formula Lights is a national formula racing championship that takes place in Japan. It is a junior-level feeder formula that uses the same single seater chassis as the pan-European Euroformula Open Championship. The series will be the first with the new branding as a feeder series for the Super Formula championship. The nomenclature is similar to that of IndyCar, whose support series formerly used the "Lights" moniker as well.

This was the fourth season of the championship and was won by Guanyu Zhou for Abu Dhabi Racing by Prema.

The 2021 Formula Regional Japanese Championship was a multi-event, Formula 3 open-wheel single seater motor racing championship held in Japan. The drivers competed in Formula Regional cars that conform to the FIA Formula Regional regulations for the championship. This was the second season of the championship, promoted by K2 Planet.

The 2022 Formula Regional Japanese Championship was a multi-event, Formula Regional open-wheel single seater motor racing championship held in Japan. The drivers competed in Formula Regional cars that conform to the FIA Formula Regional regulations for the championship. This was the third season of the series promoted by K2 Planet.

The Formula Regional Middle East Championship is an FIA-certified Formula Regional racing series, started in 2023. This championship races in the Emirati venues from the 2022 Formula Regional Asian Championship and Kuwait Motor Town. The promoter of Formula Regional Asian Championship decided to relaunch Formula Regional Asian Championship in Southeastern Asia, so the championship racing on the Middle Eastern circuits was renamed the Formula Regional Middle East Championship.

The 2024 Formula Regional Japanese Championship is a multi-event, Formula Regional open-wheel single seater motor racing championship held in Japan. The drivers compete in Formula Regional cars that conform to the FIA Formula Regional regulations for the championship. This is the fifth season of the series, promoted by K2 Planet, and the 46th overall season of an FIA ladder series.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Eurocup-3</span> Single-Seater Racing Championship

Eurocup-3 is a formula racing series regulated according to Formula Regional regulations. The series is founded for levelling up the competition for all drivers, with each team committing on a maximum budget of €400,000 every season.
