Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a mobile multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed and published by Moonton, a subsidiary of ByteDance. Released in 2016, the game grew in popularity; most prominently in Southeast Asia.

The King's Avatar is a Chinese donghua web series aired in 2017, based on the web novel of the same name written by Hu Die lan. The series depicted the fictional esports scene in China where the story revolves around a multiplayer online video game called Glory. The series was produced by Chinese internet company Tencent. A 3-episode sequel premiered in 2018, and a long delayed second season aired in 2020. A prequel film, titled The King's Avatar: For the Glory, had a 2019 release.

In the Philippine esports league The Nationals, the team competes as Bren EPro. The organization was founded on 16 August 2017 by Bernard "Bren" Chong who is part of the Chong clan that owns World Balance.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup, often called as MSC, is an annual esports tournament for the mobile MOBA game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in Southeast Asia. The tournament consists of different teams from different countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore, Vietnam, and Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos.

MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2019 was the third season of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang annual SEA tournament MSC. It was held at Smart Araneta Coliseum with a total prize pool of US$120,000 from June 19–23, 2019. The event was hosted by Eruption, Faraz Shababi, Fiera Fendi, and Serahline.

On January 23, 2021, they won the first runner-up award at the M2 World Championship.

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup 2021 or commonly known as MSC 2021 was the fourth annual regional Southeast Asian Tournament for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MSC 2021 was held virtually via an online livestream that was streamed and viewed by millions in the region. With a total prize pool of $150,000 after Moonton's announcement of a prize pool increase, the games were held from 7–13 June 2021. The Philippine team of Execration won the Tournament against another Philippine team in Blacklist International with Kelra as the winning MVP. This is the second title that the Philippines have won after Aether Main won the MSC Cup in 2018.

Blacklist International is a Southeast Asian esports organization under Tier One Entertainment. MPL Philippines currently follows a franchise-based system, wherein eight teams are currently competing as and officially removing local team qualifiers, previously evident during MPL Philippines Season 7.
