The 2nd IIFA Utsavam ceremony honouring the winners and nominees of the best of South Indian cinema in 2016 was an event held on 28 and 29 March 2017 at the Hyderabad, Telangana, India. The event, which is the second edition of the IIFA Utsavam, recognises the best work from the four industries during the year 2016 and awarded prizes to performers and technicians from the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages. The event is being chiefly hosted by Rana Daggubati, who along with Nani, Akul Balaji and Meghana Gaonkar host for Telugu and Kannada segments. Rana Daggubati along with Tini Tom, Pearle Maaney and Shiva host for Tamil and Malayalam segments. [3]
The nominations for the films released during 2016 were announced early March 2017. Janatha Garage and Oopiri topped with 9 nominations each out of total 13 categories followed by Pelli Choopulu with 8 nominations and Rudhramadevi with 7 nominations. [4] [5]

The nominations for the films released during 2016 were announced early March 2017. Chennai 600028 II lead the nominations list with 11 categories out of total 13 categories. Whereas Kabali finds spot in 8 categories, followed by critically acclaimed Visaranai and Irudhi Suttru in 5 categories, while Theri received 4 nominations. [6] [7]

The nominations for the films released since October 2015 till the end of 2016 were announced on 14 March 2017. Maheshinte Prathikaaram topped the list of nominations in all 13 categories followed by Charlie with 11 nominations and Aadupuliyattam with 7 nominations. [8] [7]

Irudhi Suttru is a 2016 Indian sports drama film written and directed by Sudha Kongara. Filmed simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi, with the latter being titled as Saala Khadoos, the film stars R. Madhavan as boxing coach who is ignored by the boxing association, tries to accomplish his dream by training an amateur boxer, Madhi, played by Ritika Singh in her acting debut. Both the Tamil and Hindi versions are produced by S. Sashikanth for YNOT Studios and UTV Motion Pictures, while C. V. Kumar's Thirukumaran Entertainment and Dream Factory distributed the Tamil version and the Hindi version was jointly distributed by Madhavan himself under the Tricolour Films banner along with Rajkumar Hirani Films.

The 6th South Indian International Movie Awards is an awards event held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, Abu Dhabi on 30 June and 1 July 2017. SIIMA 2017 will recognize the best films and performances from the past year, along with special honors for lifetime contributions and a few special awards. The nomination list for the main awards was announced in June 2017.

Sathish and Divya Menon were later announced as the hosts for the Tamil segment. The nominations were announced on 21 August 2024.
