Ackera Nugent (born 29 April 2002) [1] is a Jamaican athlete who specializes in sprinting. She is the 2021 World Athletics U20 Champion in the 100m hurdles. [2] [3]

Career

In 2021, Nugent set an under-20 60m hurdles world record with a time of 7.91s. [4] She came third in the 100m Hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, also making the final of the 100 metres, where she came ninth. [1] Nugent won gold in the 100m Hurdles at the World U20 Championships, clocking a time of 12.95s. [5]

Nugent ran a big personal best over 100m hurdles in 2022, improving to 12.45s. [1] She qualified for the 2022 NCAA Championships however missed them due to an ankle injury. [6]

In 2023, Nugent ran a new Jamaican national record over 60m hurdles, with a time of 7.72 in Albuquerque. [7] She competed at the 2023 World Championships, where she finished fifth in the final. [8]

Nugent ran a Jamaican national record over 100m hurdles at the 2024 Jamaican Championships, clocking a time of 12.28s. [9] In July 2024, she was officially selected in the Jamaican team for the 2024 Summer Olympics, where she made it to the final. [10]

He was NCAA indoor champion in the 60 m hurdles in 2014 and 2015 and outdoor champion in the 110 m hurdles in 2015; he turned professional after the 2015 collegiate season, forgoing his two remaining years of collegiate eligibility. His personal best in the 110 m hurdles ranks him equal 7th on the world all-time list.

Oluwatobiloba Ayomide "Tobi" Amusan is a Nigerian track and field athlete who specialises in the 100 metres hurdles and also competes as a sprinter. Amusan is the current world record holder in the 100 metres hurdles with a time of 12.12 seconds which she set at the 2022 women's 100 metres hurdles semi-final in Eugene, Oregon. She is the current Commonwealth and African champion in the 100 m hurdles, as well as the meet record holder in those two competitions. Amusan became the first ever Nigerian world champion and world record holder in an athletics event when she won the 2022 World Championships 100 m hurdles gold medal, setting the current world record of 12.12 seconds (+0.9 m/s) in the semi-final, followed up by a 12.06 seconds (+2.5 m/s) in the final. She won back-to-back Commonwealth and African titles in 2018 and 2022 in the 100 m hurdles and is also a two-time African Games champion. She is also the current Diamond league champion in the 100 metres hurdles having won the final in 12.33 seconds (+1.8 m/s) achieving a winning streak in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Janeek Brown is a Jamaican athlete who specializes in the 100m Hurdles. Her personal best is in the 100m hurdles is 12.40s. Currently that time ranks her tied for #17 on the all time list. She set the mark while winning the 2019 NCAA Championships, running for the University of Arkansas as a sophomore.

She won the gold medal in the 60 m hurdles at the 2022 World Indoor Championships, a silver medal at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships where she lowered the current French national record to 7.73 seconds, and the gold medal at the 2024 European Athletics Championships, where she established a new personal best, national record and championship record at 12.31 seconds. At the 2024 Summer Olympics, Samba-Mayela won a silver medal in the 100 m hurdles event.
