The 2014 IAAF Diamond League was the fifth edition of the annual Diamond League. It consisted of fourteen one-day track and field meetings, starting on May 9, 2014, in Doha, Qatar and ending on September 5, 2014, in Brussels, Belgium. Other events were held in Shanghai, Eugene, Oslo, Rome, New York City, Lausanne, Paris, Fontvieille, Stockholm, Birmingham and Zürich. Glasgow, Great Britain hosted the event for the first time on July 11 & 12, 2014 at Hampden Park.
Justin Gatlin, LaShawn Merritt, Renaud Lavillenie, Eunice Jepkoech Sum, Dawn Harper-Nelson, Caterine Ibargüen, Valerie Adams and Sandra Perković all defended their titles from the 2013 IAAF Diamond League while Alonso Edward, Nijel Amos, Caleb Mwangangi Ndiku, Pascal Martinot-Lagarde, Michael Tinsley, Jairus Kipchoge Birech, Godfrey Khotso Mokoena, Mutaz Essa Barshim, Thomas Röhler, Veronica Campbell Brown, Novlene Williams-Mills, Jennifer Simpson, Mercy Cherono, Hiwot Ayalew, Tianna Bartoletta and Mariya Kuchina all won overall titles for the first time in their careers. All overall race winners received $40,000 in prize money.
The United States recorded the most overall wins with nine of their athletes claiming victories, their most successful season since the start of the Diamond League in 2010, with Kenya, France and Jamaica also having multiple athletes who claimed overall race victories. Other successful nations included Panama, Botswana, South Africa, Qatar, Poland, Germany, Ethiopia, Colombia, Russia, Brazil, New Zealand, Croatia and the Czech Republic. Having taken overall titles in the 2013 season, Great Britain, Estonia, Puerto Rico, Ukraine, Djibouti and Sweden did not have any athletes winning titles, although all except Estonia recorded individual race wins throughout the 2014 season.

There were 16 men's and 16 women's disciplines in the Diamond League and seven events per discipline in the season. Each event had a prize money of US$30,000, with a winner's share of $10,000. The season winner of each discipline won US$40,000. [2]

Vivian Jepkemoi Cheruiyot is a Kenyan long-distance runner. She represented Kenya at the Summer Olympics in 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2016, winning the silver medal in the 5,000 metres and bronze in the 10,000 metres at the 2012 London Olympics as well as gold in the 5,000 m and silver in the 10,000 m at the 2016 Rio Olympics, setting a new Olympic record in the former. Cheruiyot won the silver medal in the 5,000 m at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics and became the world champion in the event at the 2009 edition, repeating this achievement in 2011, when she also won the 10,000 m. She added gold for the latter event at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics. After taking a silver in the 3,000 metres at the 2010 World Indoor Championships, Cheruiyot won a number of outdoor 5,000 m titles that year, becoming Commonwealth Games, African and Continental Cup champion, as well as winning the Diamond League title.
Genzebe Dibaba Keneni is an Ethiopian middle- and long-distance runner. A 1,500 metres 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist, she won a gold medal in this event and a bronze in the 5,000 metres at the 2015 World Championships. Genzebe is the current world record holder for the indoor events of the one mile, 3,000m and 5,000m.

Abeba Aregawi Gebretsadik is an Ethiopian-Swedish retired middle-distance runner who specialised in the 1,500 metres. She won the bronze medal in the 1,500 m at the 2012 Summer Olympics and a gold medal at the World Championships in 2013. She has represented both Ethiopia and Sweden internationally.
Francine Niyonsaba is a Burundian runner who specialized in the 800 metres and shifted to longer distances in 2019. She was the 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist in the women's 800 metres. Her silver medal was the first Olympic medal for Burundi since 1996. Niyonsaba won a silver in the event at the 2017 World Championships.

Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon is a Kenyan middle- and long-distance runner. Kipyegon is the current world record holder for the 1,500 metres and mile, set in 2024 and 2023 respectively, and the former world record holder for the 5,000 metres. Kipyegon won a gold medal each at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 1,500 m. She also won a gold medal in the 1,500 m at the 2017, 2022 and 2023 World Athletics Championships and in the 5,000 m at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. She is nicknamed the "smiling destroyer".
The IAAF Golden Events were a sporadic series of twelve athletics events organised by the International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) from 1978 to 1982. Aside from the inaugural event in Tokyo, the contests were held in Europe and were attached to independent track and field meetings. The purpose of the events was to raise the profile of the sport outside of Olympic competition. Marking the growing professionalism in athletics, a significant prize pot was given to the winner of the event – a move designed to attract the sport's top athletes to compete against each other at the same meeting. The inaugural prize was an 18-carat gold trophy worth 9,500 US dollars. All twelve events were for men, reflecting their position as the most prominent sex during that period.

It consisted of fourteen one-day meetings, starting on 15 May in Doha, Qatar, and ending on 11 September in Brussels, Belgium. Other events were held in Shanghai, Eugene, Rome, Birmingham, Oslo, New York City, Paris, Lausanne, Fontvieille, Monaco, London, Stockholm, and Zürich. All previous venues remained on the tour, with the exception that London returned to host the second meeting in the United Kingdom, having been replaced by Glasgow during the 2014 IAAF Diamond League.
Yomif Kejelcha Atomsa is an Ethiopian distance runner. He won the silver medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2019 World Athletics Championships and gold medals for the 3000 metres at the 2016 and 2018 World Indoor Championships. Kejelcha is the world indoor record holder for the mile with a time of 3:47.01, set on 3 March 2019 in Boston.
Timothy Cheruiyot is a Kenyan middle-distance runner specialising in the 1500 metres. He is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic silver medallist in the event and the 8th fastest athlete all time over the distance. At the World Athletics Championships, Cheruiyot won the silver medal in 2017 in London, and a gold in 2019 in Doha.

Birhanu Balew is an Ethiopian-born long-distance runner representing Bahrain. He reached the final of the 5000 m event at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Selemon Barega Shirtaga is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He won the gold medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, silver for the 5,000 metres at the 2019 World Championships in Doha and bronze in the 10,000 metres at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest. Barega is a two-time 3,000 metres World Indoor Championship medallist, taking silver in 2018, and a gold in 2022.
The 2019 Doha Diamond League was the 21st edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Doha, Qatar. Held on 3 May 2019 at the Khalifa International Stadium, it was the first leg of the 2019 IAAF Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit.
The 2019 Athletissima was the 43rd edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland. Held from 4–5 July primarily at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise, it was the eighth leg of the 2019 IAAF Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. The women's pole vault was held on 4 July at the esplanade of the Le Flon district, with the other events following the next day at the Stade Olympique. 28 events total were contested with 14 of them being point-scoring Diamond League disciplines.

Held on 13 June at Bislett Stadium, it was the fifth leg of the 2019 IAAF Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. 29 events were contested with 13 of them being point-scoring Diamond League disciplines.
