Anatakupu Island is an island in the Marlborough District of New Zealand. [1] [2] A navigational beacon is proposed for the island for sailors travelling along French Pass. [3]
Marlborough District or the Marlborough Region, commonly known simply as Marlborough, is one of the 16 regions of New Zealand, located on the northeast of the South Island. Marlborough is a unitary authority, both a district and a region. Marlborough District Council is based at Blenheim, the largest town. The unitary region has a population of 52,200.
The Jordan River is a name given to two minor rivers in the South Island of New Zealand, one in Marlborough, the other in Tasman. Further south, there is also 4 km (2.5 mi) stream in Otago named River Jordan.
Kenepuru Sound is one of the larger of the Marlborough Sounds in the South Island of New Zealand. The drowned valley is an arm of Pelorus Sound / Te Hoiere, it runs for 25 kilometres (16 mi) from the northeast to southwest, joining Pelorus Sound a quarter of the way down the latter's path to the Cook Strait.
Maud Island is one of the larger islands in the Marlborough Sounds on the northeastern tip of the South Island of New Zealand, with a total area of 320 ha.
Sounds Air is a New Zealand airline based at Picton. The airline was founded in 1986 by Cliff and Diane Marchant to provide low cost flights to the Marlborough Sounds. The airline has a maintenance facility at Omaka aerodrome with its Sounds Aero Maintenance division based there.
Allports Island is a small uninhabited island located in Queen Charlotte Sound in Marlborough, New Zealand. It reaches a height of 79 metres (259 ft) and is 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) from the New Zealand mainland. An even smaller unnamed island lies immediately to the east of it. Both islands are covered in native bush.
French Pass is a narrow and treacherous stretch of water that separates D'Urville Island, at the north end of the South Island of New Zealand, from the mainland coast. At one end is Tasman Bay, and at the other end the outer Pelorus Sound / Te Hoiere leads out to Cook Strait.
The Leatham River is a river of the Marlborough Region of New Zealand's South Island. It is the main tributary of the Branch River, itself a tributary of the Wairau River. The Leatham flows north in a parallel valley to the Branch for most of its length before turning northwest to join with the Branch 6 kilometres (4 mi) from its outflow into the Wairau 40 kilometres (25 mi) south of Richmond, New Zealand.
The Puhi Puhi River is a river of the Marlborough Region of New Zealand's South Island. It flows southwest, roughly paralleling the Pacific Ocean coast, from its source 12 kilometres (7 mi) west of the mouth of the Waiau Toa / Clarence River, and reaches its outflow into the Hāpuku River 5 kilometres (3 mi) from the latter's mouth at Hapuku. One of the tributaries is the Clinton River.
Admiralty Bay is a large indentation in the northern coast of New Zealand's South Island. It lies close to the northernmost mainland point of the Marlborough Sounds, immediately to the south of D'Urville Island.
The Rangitoto Islands are a group of islands near the Marlborough Sounds along the northern coast of the South Island of New Zealand.
L'Austral is a cruise ship operated by the French cruise line company Compagnie du Ponant. It is the sister vessel of Le Boréal and Le Soléal, being the same weight, length and breadth, along with having 132 cabins and suites for 264 passengers and 140 crew members like the other two ships. L'Austral was built in 2010 at Fincantieri's Ancona shipyard, Italy. L'Austral was put into service on April 20, 2011.
On 7 January 2012, a scenic hot air balloon flight from Carterton, New Zealand, collided with a high-voltage power line while attempting to land, causing it to catch fire, disintegrate and crash just north of the town, killing all eleven people on board.
Marlborough Lines Limited is an electricity distribution company, based in Blenheim, New Zealand. Marlborough Lines is responsible for subtransmission and distribution of electricity to approximately 26,000 customers in the Marlborough Region over a service area of 11,330 km2 (4,370 sq mi). The network includes approximately 3,400 km (2,100 mi) of power lines extending to some very isolated areas across the region, including the extremities of the Marlborough Sounds, which can only be reached by boat or helicopter.

Tonga Island is a small (0.15 km2) island in Tasman Bay / Te Tai-o-Aorere, off the northern coast of the South Island of New Zealand. It lies within the Abel Tasman National Park, about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) off Onetahuti Beach. The island has a flourishing fur seal colony, and is surrounded by the Tonga Island Marine Reserve, which was inaugurated in 1993.
The Nelson Marlborough District Health Board was a district health board with the focus on providing healthcare to the Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough districts of New Zealand. In July 2022, it was merged into the national health service Te Whatu Ora.
The Branch River is a river in the Marlborough Region of New Zealand. It is a tributary of the Wairau River, flowing north for 30 kilometres (19 mi) to meet the Wairau 65 kilometres (40 mi) west of the town of Blenheim. Just before flowing into the Wairau, the Branch River crosses underneath State Highway 63.
