Ashwini Sofie Holme (born 5 January 1996) is an English influencer and presenter. After appearing as a contestant on the fourteenth series of The X Factor in 2017, she has gone on to amass an online following through social media. She has gone on to host various series, including fronting her own podcast and presenting ITV1 series alongside her father.

Life and career

Ashwini Sofie Holme was born in Watford, Hertfordshire, on 5 January 1996. [1] [2] She is of Caribbean, Irish, Malaysian and Indian descent. [3] As well as studying drama for her A-levels, Holme went on to train at City Academy, London. [4] In 2017, she auditioned for the fourteenth series of The X Factor . [5] She was part of the girl group NQ, who were eliminated during the six-chair challenge. [6] However, Holme was invited back by judge Simon Cowell and was asked if she would like to join another group, New Girl Band. [7] Holme accepted and left NQ to join them, but the group were eliminated during judges' houses. [8] [9]

Holme made a TikTok account in 2020, which began to amass followers after numerous viral videos. She began to collaborate with brands including Spotify, L'Oréal and Prime Video, [10] before launching a podcast, Antics with Ash, in 2023. [11] As well as this, she hosted the Bumble podcast Bumble: My Love Is... and appeared in an episode of Channel 4's Get in the Van. [12] [13] Also in 2023, Holme competed in the fourth series of the FootAsylum YouTube series Locked In. [14] In 2024, Holme fronted an ITV1 series alongside her autistic father, Phil. [15] The series, Ash Holme: What Not to Do with Dad, followed her and her father exploring taboo topics including OnlyFans creators, foot fetishes and Japanese bondage. [11] [16]

The X Factor is a British television music competition to find new singing talent. The seventh series started on ITV on 21 August 2010 and ended on 12 December 2010. The series saw the creation of boyband One Direction, five boys who entered the competition as soloists. The winner of the series was Matt Cardle. He was mentored throughout the show by Dannii Minogue. After the victory, he released his debut single "When We Collide". A total of 15,448,019 votes were cast throughout the series. It was presented by Dermot O'Leary, with spin-off show The Xtra Factor presented by Konnie Huq on ITV2, who took over from Holly Willoughby.
