The Asian University Athletics Championships was an international athletics competition for student athletes from Asian countries. It was staged on one occasion in November 2005 at the Guangdong Olympic Stadium in Guangzhou, China. A total of 19 nations competed, including Russian athletes from the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. [1] [2]

Liu Hong is a Chinese female race walker. She is the world record holder over the Olympic 20 km distance with a time of 1:24:38 hours, set in 2015.

Zhang Peimeng Chinese sprinter

Zhang Peimeng is a retired Chinese track and field sprinter who specialized in the 200 metres and currently a skeleton racer. His personal best time is 20.47 seconds, achieved in May 2013 in Shanghai. In the 100 metres he has 10.00 seconds, achieved in August 2013 in Moscow.

Su Bingtian Chinese sprinter

Su Bingtian is a Chinese sprinter. He was the first ever Asian-born sprinter to break the 10-second barrier of the 100 metres event in track and field. Su's personal best of 9.83 seconds in the 100 metres makes him the current holder of the 100 m Asian record. In 2018, his personal best in the 60 metres of 6.42 seconds made him the holder of the 60 m Asian record and placed him within the top five all-time in the event. En route to his 100 metre personal best at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Su ran the fastest recorded 60 metre split of all time with a time of 6.29 seconds.

Su Xiongfeng is a Chinese track and field athlete who competes in the long jump. He became the Asian champion at the 2011 Asian Championships and was the silver medallist at the 2010 Asian Games. His personal best jump of 8.27 metres is the Asian indoor record.

In India, the sport of athletics was introduced during the period of the British Raj. The sport is governed at national level by the Athletics Federation of India, which was formed in 1946. Despite its large population, few Indian athletes have won a medal in a global or major championship. This began to change in the 21st century, when Indians started taking greater interest in athletics more generally and improved facilities for the sport began to be built at a local level. At a continental level, it has been among the more successful Asian nations, though some distance behind China and Japan.

Xie Zhenye Chinese sprinter

Xie Zhenye is a Chinese sprinter. He is the current Asian record holder of the 200 metres with a time of 19.88 seconds. Xie's personal best in the 100 metres of 9.97 seconds makes him the second Chinese sprinter to record a time below the 10-second barrier, after his compatriot Su Bingtian. Xie represented China at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2016 Summer Olympics and 2020 Summer Olympics where he became the first Chinese athlete to have ever qualified for a semi-final of men's 200 metres at any Summer Olympic Games.

Christine Sonali Merrill Sri Lankan–American athlete (born 1987)

Christine Sonali Merrill, also simply known as Christine Merill, is a former Sri Lankan–American track and field athlete and mechanical engineer. During her career, she specialized in the 400m hurdles event and also occasionally competed in 100m, 200m, 100m hurdles, 4 × 100m relay and 4 × 400m relay events.

Athletics at the National Games of China

Athletics is one of the sports at the quadrennial National Games of China. Athletics competitions have been at every edition of the competition since its formation in 1910 as the Chinese National Games. The Games is the highest level athletics event for Chinese athletes, ahead of the annual Chinese Athletics Championships.

Wang Jianan is a Chinese track and field athlete who competes in the long jump.

Wang Chunyu is a Chinese track and field athlete who specialises in the 800 metres. She has a personal best of 1:57.00 minutes. She was the gold medallist at the Asian Athletics Championships in 2013 and the runner-up at the 2011 World Youth Championships.

Zhao Qinggang is a Chinese track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. His 89.15 m personal best throw, set in 2014, is the Chinese record. It was also the Asian record until surpassed in 2017. He represented his country at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics. He is the 2014 Asian Games champion. At the East Asian Games he was the runner-up in 2009 and winner in 2013. He is a two-time Chinese champion and was the winner of the 2013 National Games of China.

Wu Shuijiao Chinese hurdler

Wu Shuijiao is a female Chinese track and field athlete who competes in hurdling. Her personal best for the 100 metres hurdles is 12.93 seconds, set in 2013. Wu was the Chinese champion in the event in 2012 and 2013.

Lu Minjia is a Chinese female track and field athlete who competes in the long jump. She was the 2009 World Youth Champion and set an Asian youth record of 6.74 m that same year. After an Asian Junior title, she was runner-up at the 2011 Asian Athletics Championships. She won gold medals at the 2012 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships and the 2015 Asian Athletics Championships.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Asia Pacific Deaf Games</span> International sporting event

Asia Pacific Deaf Games is a deaf multi-sport event established in 1984 which is held every 4 years in the Asia Pacific region. It is the successor to the "Far Eastern Deaf Football Championship" which was held in Taipei in 1983. The inaugural games was held in 1984 in Hong Kong. At that time, the games was known as the Asia Pacific Deaf Football Championship which was held biennially until 1988. In 1988, the games' governing body Asia Pacific Deaf Sports Confederation was formed during the 3rd Championship in Melbourne, Australia with Ms. Wendy Home as its first administrator. The games changed its name to its present name, the Asia Pacific Deaf Games when the games was held in Seoul, South Korea in 1992 after Asia Pacific Deaf Sports Confederation passed a resolution to change the name of the games, which has since been held once every four years.

Shen Maomao is a Chinese former track and field athlete who competed in the javelin throw. His was a three-time Asian champion and is a former Asian record holder.
