Brigade Enterprises Limited is a real estate and property development company that is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. [1] The Brigade Group also has operations in Mangalore, [2] Mysore, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Chikmagalur, Ahmedabad [3] and a representative office in Dubai. [4] [5] It has won national and international awards in the construction industry. [6] [7] It was founded by M.R. Jaishankar in the year 1986. [8] [9]

Brigade Group provides property management services, hospitality and education across several major cities in South India. [10] [11] [12] The group also owns Brigade Foundation, which is a not-for-profit trust. Brigade has proved his potential in real estate and made it first lifestyle enclave and Brigade Exotica, which is known as tallest residential building in Bangalore.

The economy of South India after independence in 1947 conformed to a socialist framework, with strict governmental control over private sector participation, foreign trade and foreign direct investment (FDI). Through 1960–1990, South Indian economies experienced mixed economic growth. In the 1960s, Kerala achieved above-average economic growth, while Andhra Pradesh's economy declined during this period. Similarly, Kerala experienced an economic decline in the 1970s while the economies of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka consistently exceeded national average growth rates after 1970. South India first started to overtake the rest of India economically in the 1980s. Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were noted by some to be more reform-oriented in terms of economic policy when compared to other Indian states. Over the last decade South India has grown at 8% annually. Future economic growth will be shackled by a relatively low proportion of the active age population to the number of dependents. Today, South India has about 20% of India's population, and contributes about 31% of India's GDP; it is projected to contribute 35% by 2030.

The Bangalore–Chennai Expressway, or National Expressway 7 (NE-7), is an under construction 258 km (160 mi) long, 4-lane wide access-controlled expressway between the cities of Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka and Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. It will run from Hoskote in Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority to Sriperumbudur in Chennai Metropolitan Area. It is planned to allow vehicles to reach 120 km/h (75 mph). This expressway was designated as a National Expressway on 1 January 2021. The total project value is ₹ 17,930 crore. It will be completed by March 2024.
