Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) is an Indian natural gas distribution company that supplies natural gas as cooking and vehicular fuel, primarily in Delhi NCR. Established in 1998, the company is a joint venture between GAIL, Bharat Petroleum, and the Government of Delhi. [2]
IGL was incorporated in 1998, to take over and operate the Delhi City Gas Distribution Project from GAIL for laying a network of gas distribution pipelines in Delhi. The company started as a joint venture between GAIL, Bharat Petroleum and the Government of Delhi to implement a city gas distribution network. [3]
The company went public in 2003, listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange. [4]

Plans to build a third LNG terminal in Gangavaram, Andhra Pradesh were dropped in October 2019.

HVJ an abbreviation for Hazira-Vijaipur-Jagdishpur is India's first cross state gas pipeline. The project was started in 1986 after the incorporation of GAIL (India) Limited to supply gas to the fertilizer plants located in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The first phase of the project consisting of non-branched 1,750 kilometer grid was commissioned in 1987. Later on the system was expanded with additional branches to supply gas for industrial and domestic use in the states of Rajasthan, Haryana and NCT, which increased the total grid length to 3,474 km.
