Power plant

Satpura Thermal Power Station has eleven Units, five has been decommissioned and dismantled, four are non-operational while the rest two are operational. [1] The Water for the plant is procured from nearby Satpura Dam Reservoir, which spread in 2,893 acres (11.71 km2). The Dam was built for the purpose of power generation.

Installed capacity

Satpura Thermal Power Station was the largest power plant of MPPGCL till 2007 with an installed capacity of 1142.5 Megawatt. From year 2019 onwards it is the third largest power plant of MPPGCL. From year 2014 onwards with the commissioning of 2 units of 250 MW each and decommissioning of 5 units of 62.5 MW each, the installed capacity of Satpura Thermal Power Station is 1330 MW.

In 2007 with the commissioning of a 500 MW unit at Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station the Satpura Thermal Power Station turned second largest power plant with the largest being Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station which has an installed capacity of 1340 MW.

In year 2018 a unit of 660 MW capacity was commissioned at Shree Singaji Thermal Power Project, it raised the installed capacity from 1200 MW to 1860 MW making it the largest power station of MPPGCL. In 2019 a unit of 660 MW was commissioned, it further raised the installed capacity to 2520 MW. [2] [3] [4] [5]

NLC India Limited (NLC) is a central public sector undertaking under the administrative control of the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. It annually produces about 30 million tonnes of Lignite from opencast mines at Neyveli in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India and at Barsingsar in Bikaner district of Rajasthan state. The Indira Sagar Dam is the largest dam in India, in terms of volume of water stored in the reservoir. The foundation stone of the project was laid by the prime minister of India Indira Gandhi on 23 October 1984. The construction of the main dam started in 1992. The downstream projects of ISP are Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, and Sardar Sarovar Project. To build it, a town of 22,000 people and 100 villages was displaced.

Sarni is a town located in the Betul District of Madhya Pradesh. It is administered by the Municipal Council Sarni, which oversees four contiguous settlements of Sarni, Pathakhera, Shobhapur Colony and Bagdona. The town is known for its industrial setup and natural beauty, with the Tawa River running through it and being surrounded by lush green forests. It is an important industrial hub with the Satpura Thermal Power Station and Pathakhera Area Coal Mines of Western Coalfields Limited located in the surrounding areas. These industries contribute to the economy of the town and make it an important centre for power generation and coal mining. Sarni is also known for its Mathardev temple at the hilltop, making it a popular tourist destination.

The Mahanirmiti or Mahagenco formerly known as MSEB is a major power generating company in the state of Maharashtra, India and a wholly owned subsidiary of Maharashtra State Electricity Board. With a total generation of 14,400 MW, it is the second largest power producing company in India. The power generated by Mahagenco is supplied to Maharashtra. It was a part of Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) until 6 June 2005.

Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) was constituted on dated 25.08.1980 under the Companies' Act 1956 for construction of new thermal power projects in the state sector. On 14 January 2000, in accordance to U.P. State Electr Reforms Acts 1999 and operation of U.P. Electricity Reforms Transfer Scheme 2000, U.P. State Electricity Board (U.P.S.E.B.), till then responsible for generation, transmission and distribution of power within the state of Uttar Pradesh, was unbundled and operations of the state sector thermal power stations were handed over to UPRVUNL. Unchahar Thermal Power Station - 420 MW (2X210) & Tanda Thermal Power Station 440 MW (4X110) were transferred to NTPC in year 1992 & year 2000 respectively before unbundling of U.P. State Electricity Board (U.P.S.E.B.) into;

Panki Thermal Power Station is located at Panki in Kanpur Uttar Pradesh. Its first stage was commissioned in 1967 by the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. It has an installed capacity of 660 Mega Watts. The power plant is owned and operated by Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam. It has a 275 Metres high chimney which is one of the tallest structures in India

Harduaganj Thermal Power Station is located at Qasimpur Power House Colony which is 1 km distance from Harduaganj railway station at Harduaganj in Aligarh district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, about 18 km from Aligarh and 105 km from Agra. Sasan Ultra Mega Power Plant or Sasan UMPP is one of the four Ultra Mega Power Projects awarded by the Ministry of Power, Government of India. It is located in Sasan village near Waidhan in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh. Sasan UMPP is India's largest integrated power generation and coal mine project with 3,960 MW power plant and 20 MT per year coal mining capacity. It is presently the 4th largest electricity generation power plant in India after NTPC Vindhyachal, Mundra Thermal Power and Mundra UMPP. The total project value of Sasan UMPP is ₹25,186 crores.

Shree Singaji Super Thermal Power Project is a coal-fired power plant of MPPGCL located near Dongaliya village near by Mundi of Khandwa District in Madhya Pradesh state of India. This project is owned by MPPGCL. The water required is taken from Indira Sagar Reservoir on Narmada River. Coal linkage is achieved with South Eastern Coalfields Limited.

Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project is a coal-based thermal power plant located at Sivanpur village in Nabinagar taluk in Aurangabad district, Bihar. It was conceptualised in 1989 by the then Chief Minister of Bihar Satyendra Narayan Sinha who sent the proposal to set up a NTPC's super thermal power project at Nabinagar in Bihar's Aurangabad district to then Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi; but the project went into limbo as the following state governments failed to follow it. In 2007, Manmohan Singh's government finally put a stamp of approval on it.

The Anuppur Thermal Power Project or ATPP as popularly cited is a 2520-megawatt (MW) coal-based thermal power station located in Anuppur District, Madhya Pradesh, India. The project is being commissioned by Hindustan Powerprojects.
