Broadway Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. The district encompasses 35 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure in a predominantly commercial section of Cape Girardeau. It developed between about 1868 and 1965, and includes representative examples of Queen Anne, Mission Revival, and Art Deco style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Julius Vasterling Building, the Esquire Theater, and the Broadway Theater. Other notable buildings include the Star Service Station (1965), Phil C. Haman Drug Store (1927), Haman's Shoe Store (1910), Finney's Drug Store (c. 1906), Broadway Prescription Shop (c. 1930), Kroger Super Market (1948), Kroger Super Market Parking Lot (1948), Pete Koch's Sinclair Service Station (1954-1955), Bell Telephone Company (1963), American Legion Building (1920-1923), and Vandeven Mercantile (c. 1879). Cape Girardeau Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. In 2000, the area listed was 1.6 acres (0.65 ha) and included 17 contributing buildings. In a first increase, an 1891 contributing building at 101 North Main Street was added. The building was designed by Jerome B. Legg and Henry Ossenkop in Romanesque style. In a second increase, three contributing buildings dating from 1870 were added. The two increases added .9 acres (0.36 ha) each to the original listed area.

The commercial buildings were built between about 1885 and the 1930s in a variety of popular architectural styles including Italianate and Art Deco. Located in the district is the separately listed Jefferson Standard Building. Other notable buildings include the Vanstory Building, Kress Building (1929), Woolworth's, Efrid's Department Store, Montgomery Ward (1936), the Carolina Theatre (1927), Center Theatre (1948), the former Belk Building (1939), Ellis Stone/Thalhimer's Department Store (1949-1950), and the former American Exchange National Bank Building (1920). Julius Vasterling Building, also known as the Seehausen Sanitary Meat Market, is a historic commercial building located at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. It built about 1868, and is a painted brick, two-part commercial block with three storefronts and residential space on the second level. It has a stone foundation and a seamless metal, side gabled roof. An addition was built about 1884 and a section originally built as a dwelling was converted to a storefront in 1925–1927.
Esquire Theater is a historic movie theater located at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. It was built in 1946–1947, and is a two-story, brick building with a colorful Art Deco facade. The building measures approximately 100 feet by 60 feet. It features a projecting marquee with neon tube lights; a streamlined, curving entrance and ticket booth; a projecting proscenium-like arch; and embellishments including enameled and stainless steel, structural pigmented glass, marble and glass blocks.

The district encompasses 121 contributing buildings and 2 contributing sites in a predominantly residential section of Cape Girardeau. It developed between about 1848 and 1948, and includes representative examples of Italianate, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, Mission Revival, Late Gothic Revival, American Craftsman, and Art Deco style architecture. The district contains 1 1/2 and 2 1/2-story brick single-family homes, with multi-family homes and a few commercial buildings dispersed throughout. Located in the district is the separately listed Robert Felix and Elma Taylor Wichterich House, William Henry and Lilla Luce Harrison House, Huhn-Harrison House, B'Nai Israel Synagogue, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, August and Amalia Shivelbine House, Glenn House, House at 323 Themis Street, and George Boardman Clark House.
Broadway Theater, also known as the New Broadway Theatre, Fox Broadway, Kerasotes Broadway Theatre, was a historic vaudeville house and movie theater located at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. It was erected in 1921, and was a two-story, red brick building with a white, glazed brick façade. The building consisted of the theatre/storefront zone on the first level and a second zone with office space on the second level.
