The Brooklyn Kings are a professional Rugby League team based in Brooklyn, New York. They are a part of the North American Rugby League and the USA Rugby League.

History

2014 was the club's inaugural season in the USA Rugby League and they finished third in the North Conference's North East Division.

The Kings won their first USARL Championship final in 2019 against the Jacksonville Axemen 12-6. [1]

In 2021, the club turned fully professional and became a founding member of the North American Rugby League. The Kings made history by signing former National Rugby League, Super League & USA international, Eddy Pettybourne to the first professional contract to a United States based club. [2] [3]

Affiliations with British Rugby League

In March 2014, the Kings announced a partnership with the Castleford Tigers, who play in the Super League. The goal of the affiliation was to "share resources and implement initiatives to develop the game and their brands on a global scale." [4]

North American Rugby League Professional rugby league in North America

The North American Rugby League (NARL) is an upcoming rugby league club competition in North America. At launch, the league announced fourteen teams; twelve from United States and two from Canada. An inaugural season was planned for 2021 but was deferred until 2022 due to increased health and safety needs regarding COVID-19 and insurance and travel costs. The league will now launch with 6 foundation teams, 5 from the United States and former professional Super League member club Toronto Wolfpack from Canada. The first season was supposed to kick off 21st May 2022, but failed to do so.
