This is a list of properties and districts in Indiana that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There are over 1,900 in total. Of these, 39 are National Historic Landmarks. Each of Indiana's 92 counties has at least two listings.
Byer is an unincorporated community in northwestern Washington Township, Jackson County, Ohio, United States. It lies along State Route 327 between Wellston and Londonderry, at 39°10′53″N82°37′53″W.
The B & O Railroad Potomac River Crossing is a 15-acre (6.1 ha) historic site where a set of railroad bridges, originally built by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, span the Potomac River between Sandy Hook, Maryland, and Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, in the United States. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 14, 1978 for its significance in commerce, engineering, industry, invention, and transportation.
The Harra Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge in Washington County, Ohio, United States. Located in western Watertown Township, about 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the community of Watertown, the bridge spans the South Branch of Wolf Creek near the intersection of State Route 339 and Township Road 172. Among the bridge's more distinctive features are its cut stone abutments, its metal roof, and the vertical siding. Although it has been open for well over one hundred years, it remains in strong structural condition, and it served daily traffic into the late twentieth century.
The Lockington Covered Bridge was a historic covered bridge that once spanned the Great Miami River near Lockington, Ohio, United States. Built in 1848, it employed the Long Truss method of construction. Construction elements included vertical wooden siding, wooden structural elements, wooden shingles on its roof, and cut stone abutments. Measuring approximately 170 feet (52 m) long, the bridge was composed of two spans; it cost $1,500 to build.
The Hune Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. Located northeast of the community of Dart, it spans the Little Muskingum River in northeastern Lawrence Township in the eastern part of Washington County. Local bridge builder Rollin Meredith erected it in 1879, using the Long-truss style of truss bridge design; the single-span bridge was named for the locally prominent Hune family. Among its design features are a metal roof, abutments of cut stone, and vertical siding. As a Long truss, the Hune Bridge is a valuable example of nineteenth-century architecture: few examples of this complicated style survive to the present day. In 1976, the Hune Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, both because of its place in local history and because of its historically significant construction.
The Hildreth Covered Bridge, also known as the "Hills Covered Bridge" or "Lafaber's Mill Bridge," is a historic covered bridge in Washington County, Ohio, United States. Located off State Route 26 in Newport Township, about 5 miles (8.0 km) east of the city of Marietta, the bridge historically carried Hills Bridge Road over the Little Muskingum River. Construction of the Hildreth Bridge was a long process: the most significant amount of work was done on the bridge in 1878, but the entire construction process occurred between 1871 and 1881. The identity of its builder is unknown.
The Shinn Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. Located in the countryside northeast of Bartlett in Washington County, this single-span truss bridge was built in 1886 by local carpenter Charles T. Shinn. Built of weatherboarded walls with stone abutments and a metal roof, the bridge features vertical siding, and its portals have remained vertical and resisted creeping into another shape. The heart of the bridge's structure employs the Burr Truss design, which mixes the king post truss with a wooden arch designed by Andrea Palladio in the sixteenth century. Shinn built his bridge to span the western branch of Wolf Creek in Palmer Township. Measuring 98 feet (30 m) in length, the bridge was constructed soon after the drowning of one of Shinn's children.
The Root Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. Located off State Route 555 in far northern Decatur Township, Washington County, the bridge was built in 1878 in the Long truss mode of truss bridge construction. Measuring 65 feet (20 m) in its single span, it spans the West Branch of the Little Hocking River.
The Mull Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge in the northwestern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. Built in the middle of the nineteenth century, it is located near Burgoon in Sandusky County. Although it is no longer used to facilitate transportation, the bridge has been preserved and is now a historic site.
The Church Hill Road Covered Bridge is a covered bridge in Columbiana County, Ohio. It was originally located over Middle Fork Little Beaver Creek in Elk Township. The bridge was constructed in 1870 and was relocated in 1982 near the Lock 24 Restaurant on Ohio route 154 east of Lisbon, Ohio.
Larkin Covered Bridge is a 60-foot-long (18 m), Burr truss wooden covered bridge located outside Chester Springs, Chester County, Pennsylvania, near the village of Eagle. The bridge, which originally crossed over Marsh Creek, now spans a dry ditch and is a feature of the Upper Uwchlan Township trail system.
The historic bridges at the Lancaster campus of Ohio University were moved to the campus and sit about a 100 yards apart. The bridges were built in 1881 and 1884-85 very close to each other, both crossing Poplar Creek, and while the first-built is a wood-and-steel covered bridge and the second-built is all-steel, they are similar in design. The Newton Falls Covered Bridge, in Newton Falls, Ohio, was built around 1831. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. It is also known as the Arlington Boulevard Covered Bridge.
The Knowlton Covered Bridge, near Rinard Mills, Ohio, was built around 1860. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It was decommissioned shortly after. Also known as the Long Covered Bridge, it is a Burr arch truss bridge.
The Reed Bridge, near Marysville, Ohio, was a Partridge truss covered bridge. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
The Rinard Covered Bridge, near Marietta, Ohio, was built in 1876. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
The Rock Mill Covered Bridge, on State Route 41 at Rock Mill, Ohio in Bloom Township, Fairfield County, Ohio, is a Queen Post truss bridge. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
The Salt Creek Covered Bridge, near Norwich in Perry Township, Muskingum County, Ohio, was built in 1876. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
