Byomkesh was a 2014 Indian Bengali crime fiction television series based on the Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. The series starred Gaurav Chakrabarty, Saugata Bandyopadhyay and Ridhima Ghosh as Byomkesh Bakshi, Ajit and Satyabati respectively. [1] The series premiered on 20 November 2014 on Colors Bangla channel and ended on 14 November 2015. This series is re-runned on 4 March 2024. The first episode was narrated by Sabyasachi Chakrabarty.

Summary

Byomkesh Bakshi (Gaurav Chakrabarty) is a young Bengali private detective who solves spine-chilling cases with his chronicler and associate Ajit Bandyopadhyay (Saugata Bandyopadhyay).

Controversies

It has been reported [4] that the shooting has been halted by a notification issued by the Artist Forum when they received several complaints against the production house Dag Creative Media. Complaints had been made by several artistes about non payment of dues for multiple months. The Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India has come out in support of the artists.

The film was once considered Ray's worst film because of its complex plot and unfaithfulness to its source material, however the flexible acting of Uttam Kumar was praised by many critics at that time. Unlike the previous three installments, Jisshu Sengupta portrayed the character Bakshi in this one replacing Abir Chatterjee.

Byomkesh Pawrbo is a 2016 Indian Bengali language thriller film directed by Arindam Sil and the film is the sequel to 2015 film Har Har Byomkesh. Produced jointly under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films and Surinder Films, the film reprises cinematography and music by Soumik Haldar and Bickram Ghosh respectively. Sayantika Banerjee as Gulab Bai (cameo) is doing a special dance number for a particular scene which is being choreographed by Saroj Khan. The film stars Abir Chatterjee, Ritwick Chakraborty and Sohini Sarkar in lead roles. The movie is based on the story Amriter Mrityu by Saradindu Bandyopadhyay. Netaji is a Bengali biographical soap opera on the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose that premiered on 14 January 2019 and aired on Bengali GEC Zee Bangla. Based majorly on Udyata Kharga Subhash by Achintya Kumar Sengupta and produced by Surinder Films, the series stars Abhishek Bose in the eponymous role, with Basabdatta Chatterjee, marking her comeback on television, Dhruvajyoti Sarkar, Kaushik Chakraborty, Sriparna Roy, Debopriyo Sarkar, Sohan Bandopadhyay, Fahim Mirza appearing in other recurring roles. Byomkesh is a Bengali streaming television series based on the Byomkesh Bakshi character created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. Set in the 1930s, the series is based on the adventures of Byomkesh, and his friend and biographer Ajit, who usually accompanies Bakshi during his investigations. Anirban Bhattacharya portrays the lead role of Byomkesh, with Subrat Dutta in the role of Byomkesh's trusted friend-turned-aide, Ajit. The first episode premiered on Saturday, 14 October 2017, being the first Byomkesh series to be available on OTT platform hoichoi worldwide.

Pandab Goenda is an Indian Bengali-language television detective series that premiered on 7 September 2020, and aired on Zee Bangla. The show based on the story of Pandab Goenda, starred Rob Dey, Rishav Chakraborty, Mayukh Chatterjee, Anumita Dutta and Shritama Mitra.
