As of the 2010 U.S. census, the city had a total population of 674. Prior to the Great Flood of 1993, Grafton had enjoyed a stable population of nearly 1,000 residents.
Keithsburg is a city in Mercer County, Illinois, United States on the Mississippi River. The population was 609 at the 2010 census, down from 714 in 2000. It was named for Robert Keith, a pioneer settler.
The Magill House is a historic hotel located at 100 N. Center St. in Clinton, Illinois. Construction on the building began in 1872 and was completed in 1873. The hotel was built in order to entice the Illinois Central Railroad to move the headquarters of its Springfield Division to Clinton; the effort was successful, as the railroad moved to Clinton in the late 1870s. From its construction through the mid-20th century, the hotel was considered the finest in Clinton, and housed both Illinois Central employees and travelers on the railroad. The hotel transitioned to an apartment hotel in the 1970s, and after the late 1980s it declined and ultimately closed.
The Ogle County Courthouse is a National Register of Historic Places listing in the Ogle County, Illinois, county seat of Oregon. The building stands on a public square in the city's downtown commercial district. The current structure was completed in 1891 and was preceded by two other buildings, one of which was destroyed by a group of outlaws. Following the destruction of the courthouse, the county was without a judicial building for a period during the 1840s. The Ogle County Courthouse was designed by Chicago architect George O. Garnsey in the Romanesque Revival style of architecture. The ridged roof is dominated by its wooden cupola which stands out at a distance.
The Nachusa House is a former hotel building in Dixon, Illinois, United States along Galena Avenue. The building was constructed in 1853 and operated continuously as a hotel until 1988. It underwent many alterations during the time it operated as a hotel. Following its period as a hotel the five-story mansard roofed building fell into disrepair and was nearly demolished in 1997. The building was restored by the Illinois Housing Development Authority and a Chicago developer at a cost of US$3.2 million and renovated into affordable housing for senior citizens. During its height the Nachusa House was a popular stop along rail and stagecoach lines and was a known layover for Abraham Lincoln. The Nachusa House was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
The Chick House is a former hotel building constructed in 1857 in the city of Rockford, Illinois, United States. The building's construction was financed by three Rockford citizens and it operated as a hotel from its opening until 1951. The hotel was purchased by Thomas Chick in 1888 and he renamed it from the Griggs House to the Chick House. In 2004 the city of Rockford purchased two-thirds of the building and made some modifications to the structure. The building is a mesh between the Greek Revival and Italianate styles and feature simple ornamentation that contrasts with a neighboring building. The Chick House is a Rockford Landmark and was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
Central House is an 1860s hotel building located in the 800-person village of Orangeville, in Stephenson County, Illinois, United States. The building was built by Orangeville founder John Bower and operated as a hotel from its construction until the 1930s, when it was converted for use as a single family residence. The three-story building was the first commercial brick structure in downtown Orangeville. Architecturally, the building is cast in a mid-19th-century Italianate style. Central House was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
The Cushing Hotel is a historic hotel in Afton, Minnesota, United States, established in 1867 to cater to railroad workers, lumbermen, and travelers. The hotel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 for having local significance in the theme of commerce. It was nominated for exemplifying the commercial lodging common to mid-19th-century river towns. It remains in business as the Afton House Inn.

The campus is located in Aledo, IL, 30 miles southwest of Moline, Illinois, and serves a mixed city, village, and rural residential community. The school is within the Davenport-Moline-Rock Island, IA-IL metropolitan statistical area.

It was individually listed on the Davenport Register of Historic Properties and on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2020 it was included as a contributing property in the Davenport Downtown Commercial Historic District. The former department store building was modeled on the Rookery Building in Chicago.

It is primarily composed of commercial building representative of architectural trends from 1865 to 1962. The district has remained largely intact since the mid-1930s.
The Keithsburg Historic District is a historic commercial district encompassing four blocks at the center of Keithsburg, Illinois. The district includes 17 buildings, 15 of which are contributing buildings to its historic nature; all but two of the buildings were historically used for commercial purposes. Two of the district's buildings, the Commercial House and the Masonic Lodge, date to the 1840s and 1850s, when Keithsburg was the Mercer County seat; the remainder of the contributing buildings were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The buildings are mainly one- and two-story brick structures, and many are adorned with metal storefronts, window hoods, and cornices. The district's collection of commercial buildings are representative of Keithsburg's role as a small but prosperous Mississippi River port and regional trade center prior to the rise of the automobile.
The Spring Valley House–Sulfur Springs Hotel is a historic former hotel located along Dee Bennett Road in rural Utica Township, LaSalle County, Illinois. Built circa 1849, the hotel is unusually large for a rural hotel of the area. The brick and limestone building, which features Greek Revival elements and vernacular stonework, is four stories tall and 63 by 42 feet in area. Its size is likely a result of it serving two different audiences; due to its proximity to the Illinois River and a major stagecoach line, it hosted travelers passing through the area, but it also functioned as a resort destination due to the area's hot springs. Three such springs are located on the site of the hotel, one of which has a spring house built over it. The opening of the Chicago and Rock Island Railroad through the area doomed the hotel, as stagecoach and river travel declined dramatically, and it closed after 1862.
