The Crescent City Historic District is a U.S. Historic District (designated as such on December 5, 1996) located in Crescent City, Florida. The district is bounded by Lake Stella, Vernon Avenue, Lake Crescent, and Orange Avenue. It contains 212 historic buildings. [1]

The house was known as the Crescent Apartments when Mitchell and her husband lived in Apt. 1 on the ground floor from 1925 to 1932. While living there, Mitchell wrote the bulk of her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Gone with the Wind.
