Crites Hall, at 10th and Main Sts. in Chadron, Nebraska, is the student services building of Chadron State College. The building is historic, dating from 1938, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is in Art Deco style, designed by architect Gordon Shattuck, and was the first men's dormitory at the college. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. [1] [2]

It is named for Edwin D. Crites (1884-1953), a first generation northwestern-Nebraskan who spent his career as an attorney in Chadron and was a State Normal Board member from 1931 to 1953. [2]

Gordon Shattuck also designed the H. J. Bartenbach House, in Grand Island, Nebraska, which is also NRHP-listed. [1]

The Laboratory of Mechanics, formerly known as Engineering Hall, is a historic building on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, United States. The two-story, brick structure with a mansard roof is a simplified version of the Second Empire style. It features a three-story tower with a mansard roof at the main entry. The original building was "L" shaped, designed by J.B. Ballinger, and built by V. Tomlinson. Its first addition was designed by the Des Moines architectural firm of Foster & Liebbe, and completed in 1885 by Tomlinson. Other additions were completed in 1933 and 1997.

The H. J. Bartenbach House is a historic house in Grand Island, Nebraska. It was built in 1937 for Henry J. Bartenbach. It was redesigned in the Streamline Moderne style by architect Gordon Shattuck in 1937–1938. For Joni Gilkerson of the Nebraska State Historical Society, "the house today stands as a notable product of the Moderne Style of architecture in Nebraska, gaining extraordinary significance as one of few recorded examples in the state and as the most important dwelling of the style in Grand Island, the home-town of architect Shattuck." It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since December 8, 1986.
