Cromer is a locality in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. It spans the boundary between the Adelaide Hills Council and the Barossa Council northwest of Mount Pleasant and includes the Cromer Conservation Park.
Early farmers in the area included the Hannaford family. Cromer was the scene of an alluvial gold rush in 1870 at a site named Bonney's Flat on Hannaford Creek. [3] (Bonney Flat Creek is 30 km away, west of Balhannah).
The school opened as "Para Wirra" in 1898. It was renamed Cromer in 1899 and closed in 1950. The post office opened in 1910 and closed in 1944. [2]

Both the Gilbert Valley and Gilbert River were named after South Australian pioneer, Thomas Gilbert. Riverton was first settled in 1856, as a settlement along the bullock track from the mining town of Burra to the capital city Adelaide. It grew from a plan designed by a James Masters who had established the nearby town of Saddleworth. The streets of Riverton received their names chiefly from James Masters and his friends. They commemorate persons notable in the history of the district or the State. At the 2011 census, Riverton had a population of 810. Including the rural areas surrounding the town, the population was 1213.

Gum Creek is a rural locality in the Mid North region of South Australia, situated in the Regional Council of Goyder. It was established in August 2000, when boundaries were formalised for the "long established local name". It is named for the Gum Creek pastoral property, which originally extended from Farrell Flat to Mount Bryan, with the homestead being located in the Gum Creek locality. The property was owned by a number of notable figures, with Sir John Duncan succeeding Sir Walter Hughes as owner.
