Drake Hotel may refer to:
The Blackstone Hotel is a historic 290-foot (88 m) 21-story hotel located on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Balbo Drive in the Michigan Boulevard Historic District in the Loop community area of Chicago, Illinois. The Blackstone is famous for hosting celebrity guests, including numerous U.S. presidents, for which it was known as the "Hotel of Presidents" for much of the 20th century, and for contributing the term "smoke-filled room" to political parlance.
The Hotel Kirkwood, also known as the Kirkwood Civic Center Hotel, is a historic building located in downtown Des Moines, Iowa, United States. The building was designed by the Chicago architectural firm of H.L. Stevens & Company and built in 1930. With its completion it became the largest hotel along Fourth Street between Walnut Street and Court Avenue, along Des Moines' "Hotel Row." It also marked the emergence of the skyscraper hotel in the downtown area. The new hotel replaced a previous Hotel Kirkwood that had been built on the same location in 1862. It was located near Union Station and the Rock Island Depot. Developers and owners of the 1930 Hotel Kirkwood were E.F. Tagney and S.F. McGinn. Art Deco details are found in the building's massing, the sleek exterior geometrical detailing, and treatment of the cornice. The 12-story brick structure rises to a height of 133 feet (41 m). It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. The building has subsequently been converted into an apartment building called "The Kirkwood."
The Roberts Riverwalk Hotel and Residence Detroit, formerly the Parke-Davis Research Laboratory also once known as Building 55-Detroit Research, is located on Joseph Campau Street at the Detroit River, in Detroit, Michigan. The former research facility was redeveloped as a boutique luxury hotel located on the Detroit International Riverfront. The building was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976 for its historic significance as an early research laboratory.
The Heinsbergen Decorating Company Building, also known as the AT Heinsbergen & Company Building, is a historic building on Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
The Park Avenue House is a high rise residential building located at 2305 Park Avenue in the Park Avenue Historic District in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. It should not be confused with the nearby Park Avenue Hotel, which was demolished in 2015.
Applewood Farm is a farmstead in Ledyard, Connecticut, United States. Constructed in 1826 by Russel Gallup, the farmhouse was built with a colonial center chimney design with Federal style details that has been modernized to the early 20th century without significantly changing the floor plan. Named after the apple orchards planted by Russel Gallup, Applewood Farm developed significantly under the ownership of Everett Gallup, the last member of the family to own the property. The property was later owned by Arlene Meyer Cohen and a 40-acre parcel was sold off in November 1984. After the Betz family became the owners it was added to the National Register of Historic Places and operated as a bed and breakfast through the 1990s. In 1987, the property included five contributory structures, the farmhouse, corn crib, barn, silo and chicken coop. The property also has one non-contributing structure, a machinery shed from the 1960s.
The Elks-Rogers Hotel, also known as Park Hotel of Clear Lake, was a resort hotel in Clear Lake, Iowa built in 1901. It was "a classic piece of late Victorian architecture often found in the trans-Mississippi West." It had brick walls, fan windows, and a large porch with Doric columns.
The Renwick Building is located in downtown Davenport, Iowa, United States. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1983, and on the Davenport Register of Historic Properties since 2000. It is known locally for the large painted sign on the north side of the building depicting the Bix 7 Road Race.
The Drake University Campus Historic District is located in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. The historic district contains six buildings. Five of the buildings are collegiate buildings on the Drake University campus and one is a church. The period of significance is from when the university was founded in 1881 to the end of the presidency of Hill M. Bell in 1918. The historic district has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1988. It is part of the Drake University and Related Properties in Des Moines, Iowa, 1881—1918 MPS.
The St. Charles-Muller's Hotel, at 302-304-310 S. Carson St. in Carson City, Nevada, is a historic hotel built in 1862. It has also been known as the St. Charles Hotel and as the Pony Express Hotel. It includes vernacular Italianate architecture.
The Hotel Hurst is a historic building located in Maquoketa, Iowa, United States. It was built in 1897 as the Delmonico Hotel by a group of local investors who desired a first-class hotel in town. The building was constructed towards the end of Maquoketa's financial boom years that had begun with the arrival of the railroad in 1870 and the county seat designation in 1873. The three-story, brick Second Empire style building anchors the southern end of the central business district. It features decorative cast hoodmolds over the windows on the main facade, and a mansard roof. The iron cresting on top of the building is not the original. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. It has subsequently been converted into an apartment building. The Hotel Hurst Garage, which was located immediately north of the hotel, has been torn down.
The Hotel Hurst Garage, also known as the Roberts Garage, was a historic building located in Maquoketa, Iowa, United States. It was built in 1910 by the owner of the Hotel Hurst next door. The owner of the Decker House Hotel had built a similar building two years earlier. The Hurst sold Buicks and the Decker sold Cadillacs. The cars could serve the needs of the hotels' guests, and it provided an automobile rental service as well as automobile sales. It was a single-story brick structure that featured a tri-partite design. The central garage door was flanked by two display windows that showed off the new cars. The decorative elements were reserved to the top of the building, and included a broad brick paneled frieze, brick corbelled cornice, and a metal cornice. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. It has subsequently been torn down.
The Budde–Singer Building is a historic building located in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, United States. This three story, brick Italianate structure was built in 1882. It replaced a similar building that had been built in 1856 and destroyed in a fire. Its early Italianate style is unusual for this time period, but it fits into its streetscape with similarly designed buildings, including the neighboring Brazelton House Hotel. The Budde–Singer Building features round arched windows with brick patterned hoodmolds on the second and third floors, and a bracketed wooden cornice. The first floor storefront has been somewhat altered, and the exterior of the building has been painted since about 1909. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
The Midwest Oil Company Hotel, at 136 East 6th Street in Casper, Wyoming, is an historic hotel building which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It has also served as the Casper Women's Club House. Originally built by the Midwest Oil Company to accommodate workers during the Casper oil boom, it was taken over by Standard Oil Company of Indiana when that company bought Midwest Oil. In the 1930s, in the waning days of oil production in Natrona County, a local women's organization bought the hotel for $8,000 and was renamed the Casper Women's Club House.
