Durant station is a former railway station in Durant, Mississippi. The town was founded in 1858 as a station on the Mississippi Central Railroad, later part of the Illinois Central Railroad. The modern station building was constructed in 1909 after the previous station was heavily damaged in a fire. [1] Amtrak trains began bypassing the station after September 10, 1995. [2] It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 2016. Restoration of the building began in 2018. [3]
