Marangaroo was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia from 1989 to 1996.

The Western Australian Legislative Assembly is elected from 59 single-member electoral districts. These districts are often referred to as electorates or seats.

History

Marangaroo was first created for the 1989 state election and abolished ahead of the 1996 state election. The seat's member during its two terms was Labor MP Ted Cunningham. Cunningham was previously the member for Balga, which was abolished when Marangaroo was created. He went on to represent the new district of Girrawheen, which largely replaced Marangaroo.

Elections were held in the state of Western Australia on 4 February 1989 to elect all 57 members to the Legislative Assembly and all 34 members to the Legislative Council. The Labor government, led by Premier Peter Dowding, won a third term in office against the Liberal Party, led by Opposition Leader Barry MacKinnon.

1996 Western Australian state election

Elections were held in the state of Western Australia on 14 December 1996 to elect all 57 members to the Legislative Assembly and all 34 members to the Legislative Council. The Liberal–National coalition government, led by Premier Richard Court, won a second term in office against the Labor Party, led by Opposition Leader Dr Geoff Gallop since 15 October 1996.

Balga was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia from 1974 to 1977 and again from 1983 to 1989.
