Elida is a village in Allen County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,905 at the 2010 census. It is included in the Lima, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The 2002 Pacific hurricane season was a slightly above average Pacific hurricane season that saw three tropical cyclones reach Category 5 intensity on the Saffir–Simpson scale, tied for the most in a season with 1994 and 2018. The strongest storm this year was Hurricane Kenna, which reached Category 5 on the Saffir–Simpson scale. It made landfall near Puerto Vallarta, located in the Mexican state of Jalisco, on October 25. Elsewhere, Tropical Storm Julio made landfall in Mexico, and Tropical Storm Boris dumped torrential rain along the Mexican coast, despite remaining offshore.
The 1984 Pacific hurricane season was a very active season, producing 21 named storms. When Fausto became a tropical storm on July 3, it was the earliest the sixth named storm was named. This record would be tied in 1985 and broken 34 years later. The season produced 26 tropical cyclones, of which 21 developed into named storms; 13 cyclones attained hurricane status, of which three reached major hurricane status. The season officially started on May 15, 1984, in the eastern Pacific, and June 1, 1984, in the central Pacific, and lasted until November 30, 1984. These dates conventionally delimit the period of each year when the vast majority tropical cyclones form in the northeastern Pacific Ocean. The strongest hurricane of the season was Hurricane Douglas, which attained Category 4 status on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale in the open Pacific.

Silky Curler Twink by Elida was a popular brand of home perm kit that was available in Britain in the late 1960s and 1970s, retailing for about 37 pence. It was promoted using full-page advertisements in women's magazines, such as the leading title Woman, and became a household name. Like some other such kits, its use could produce a strong odour of chemicals in the hair that some found unpleasant. The fashion for home perming subsequently ended and the brand has long since ceased being produced. However, the brand still evokes a sense of nostalgia in some who remember it from their youth and examples of its packaging can be collectors items.
Elida High School is a public high school located in Elida, Ohio, United States, that is part of Elida Local School District. The school athletic teams are known as the Bulldogs, and the school colors are orange, black, and gold. The school's alma mater and fight song are both based on those used at The Ohio State University except "Ohio's praise" is replaced at the beginning with "Elida's praise," and "Ohio" is again replaced at the end with "orange, black, gold."

The accolade recognizes outstanding performers of Tejano music, a German polka-based Latin music genre recorded in Spanish or English-language. The Tejano Music Awards are annually presented in San Antonio, Texas, though the ceremony was presented in other host cities such as Eagle Pass, Texas.

Although the lyrics reference football heroics and was composed by the football team's varsity manager, the song is used by Buckeye teams of all sports. The song first appeared before the October 16, 1915, game against Illinois.
Elida Local Schools is a school district that serves the villages of Elida, Gomer, and surrounding areas in Allen County, Ohio, United States. The Elida School District was started in 1868. The district includes Elida High School, Elida Middle School, Elida Elementary School, and the Elida Central Office. The present high school opened for the 2011-2012 school year. The previous high school building was erected in 1914 with additions in 1956 and 1959. Gomer School merged with Elida Local School District in 1969 and closed at the end of the 2011-2012 school year, just shy of its one hundredth year in 2014. The Elida Field House was constructed in 1973 at the high school site. The elementary was built in 1962 and a new wing was added in 1967. The building housed kindergarten through sixth grade students, but currently houses students in kindergarten through fourth grade. The middle school opened in 1981 and is home to fifth through eighth grade. Prior to the middle school opening, the high school contained grades seven through twelve.
Hurricane Elida was the first hurricane of the 2002 Pacific hurricane season to reach Category 5 strength on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale. Forming on July 23 from a tropical wave, the storm rapidly intensified from a tropical depression into a Category 5 hurricane in two days, and lasted for only six hours at that intensity before weakening. It was one of only sixteen known hurricanes in the East Pacific east of the International Date Line to have reached such an intensity. Although heavy waves were able to reach the Mexican coastline, no damages or casualties were reported in relation to the hurricane.
Elida is a Swedish all-Christian organisation, working under the motto "Sailing for Jesus" with the goal of spreading the message about Jesus Christ via a sailing boat with the same name. During spring and autumn, it sails with mainly youth, but also corporations and other groups. Summertime it tours along the Swedish west coast with singing and music and the Christian message through people's life stories and testimonies. Wintertime it sails in southern Europe. The boat is berthed in Gothenburg, Sweden

The El Paso Streetcar is a streetcar system in El Paso, Texas, that opened for service on November 9, 2018, and uses a fleet of restored PCC streetcars that had served the city's previous system until its closure in 1974. The system covers 4.8 miles (7.7 km) in two loops from Downtown El Paso to University of Texas at El Paso. The system was constructed under the authority of the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority, but when the major construction was completed, around spring 2018, it was transferred to Sun Metro, for operation and maintenance. As of 2016, construction of the system was projected to cost $97 million.
