Hinton Township is a civil township of Mecosta County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township population was 1,035. John Hinton was the first white settler here in 1855. The township was named for him when it was organized in 1860. A post office named Hinton operated from July 1862 until October 1863.

Hinton was established in 1873 and chartered in 1897. Hinton was named after John "Jack" Hinton, the original owner of the town site. Much of Hinton's downtown was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Mono is a Native American language of the Numic group of Uto-Aztecan languages, the ancestral language of the Mono people. Mono consists of two dialects, Eastern and Western. The name "Monachi" is commonly used in reference to Western Mono and "Owens Valley Paiute" in reference to Eastern Mono. In 1925, Alfred Kroeber estimated that Mono had 3,000 to 4,000 speakers. As of 2010 only about 40 elderly people speak Mono as their first language. It is classified as critically endangered by UNESCO. It is spoken in the southern Sierra Nevada mountains, the Mono Basin, and the Owens Valley of central-eastern California. Mono is most closely related to Northern Paiute; these two are classified as the Western group of the Numic branch of the Uto-Aztecan language family.
Red Rock Canyon State Park is located 1 mile (1.6 km) south of Hinton in Caddo County, Oklahoma. Before the settlement of Oklahoma, the area was used by Plains Indians as a winter campsite. The canyon was a stop on the California Road where settlers would gather fresh water and repair their wagons. Wagon wheel ruts are still visible in the park. The canyon has the only remaining site of native Caddo maple trees.
Charles Edward Hinton Jr. was an American professional baseball player. An outfielder, Hinton played in Major League Baseball for the Washington Senators (1961–64), Cleveland Indians and California Angels (1968). He batted and threw right-handed.

Mountview is an unincorporated community in Raleigh and Summers counties, West Virginia, United States. Mountview is west of Hinton and southeast of Beckley. County Routes 3/1, 3/12, and 19/22 are in Mountview. There are two ponds: one near Mt. View Road and another near Country Route 3/12. Spicelick Creek, Glade Creek, and Farley Creek run through the town. Features close to Mountview are Lake View Golf Course and the artificial Flat Top Lake.

She has been described as "an authority on how and why languages are being lost, the significance of language diversity, and the ways in which indigenous tongues can be revitalized before it's too late." "She first worked with Native American groups on bilingual education, orthographic design and literature development. After joining the Berkeley faculty in 1978, Hinton began working with California languages."
The Morongo Band of Mission Indians is a federally recognized tribe. The main tribal groups are Cahuilla and Serrano. Tribal members also include Cupeño, Luiseño, and Chemehuevi Indians. Although many tribes in California are known as Mission Indians, some, like those at Morongo, were never a part of the Spanish Missions in California. The Morongo Reservation is located in Riverside County, California.

Hinton Glacier is a tributary glacier in the Britannia Range of Antarctica, flowing north between Forbes Ridge and Dusky Ridge into Hatherton Glacier. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for U.S. Navy chief construction mechanic Clarence C. Hinton, Jr., who wintered at McMurdo Station in 1963, and headed a team charged with the maintenance of mechanical equipment at the outlying U.S. stations.
