Napa County is a county north of San Pablo Bay in the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 136,484. The county seat is the City of Napa. Napa County was one of the original counties of California, created in 1850 at the time of statehood. Parts of the county's territory were given to Lake County in 1861.
Henry S. Yount was an American Civil War soldier, mountain man, professional hunter and trapper, prospector, wilderness guide and packer, seasonal employee of the United States Department of the Interior, and the first game warden in Yellowstone National Park. He was nicknamed "Rocky Mountain Harry Yount".
Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park is a California state park located in Napa County between St. Helena and Calistoga. The park is the site of a water-powered grist mill that was built in 1846 is one of only two water-driven mills remaining west of the Mississippi River.
Beringer Vineyards is a large winery in St. Helena, California. Founded in 1876, Beringer Vineyards is "the oldest continuously operating winery in the Napa Valley", and is listed under both the National Register of Historical Places and as a California Historical Landmark. In 1934 it was the first California winery to offer public tours and wine tasting following the repeal of Prohibition. In 1939, Beringer invited attendees of the Golden Gate International Exposition to visit the winery; the winery also invited Hollywood stars including Clark Gable, Charles Laughton, and Carole Lombard to visit.
Elmshaven is a historic house museum at 125 Glass Mountain Lane in St. Helena, California, United States. Also known as Ellen White House or Robert Pratt Place, it was the home of Ellen G. White from 1900 until her death in 1915. She was notable for her prophetic ministry, which was instrumental in founding the Sabbatarian Adventist movement that led to the rise of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and for her advocacy in favor the establishment of medical clinics. It is currently owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church as an Adventist historic site, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1993.

George Calvert Yount was a trapper in William Wolfskill's party from New Mexico and came to California in 1831. He was the first Euro-American permanent settler in the Napa Valley, where he was the grantee of two Mexican land grants. Yountville, California is named for him.
William H. Corlett, also known as W. H. Corlett, was an American architect and contractor active in Napa County, California and the surrounding area. Several buildings and residences he designed are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Goodman Library is a historic library located at 1219 1st St. in Napa, California. Built in 1901, the library was paid for by George E. Goodman and built on land donated by Goodman. Architect Luther M. Turton designed the building in the Richardson Romanesque style, which can be seen in its use of rusticated stone, round arch windows, and massive scale. The design represented a shift in Napa architecture, which was mainly Victorian prior to the library's construction.
The Sam Kee Laundry Building, also known as the Pfeiffer Building, is a historic building located at 1245 Main St. in Napa, California. Built in 1875, the building is the oldest stone building and commercial building in Napa. The building has a generally simple design topped by a decorative Italianate cornice. As of 1880, the building was part of a brewery, which may have been the first brewery in Napa; it has since housed a boarding house, a saloon, and a laundry. The building currently houses the Vintner's Collective, a wine tasting bar.
The Napa County Courthouse Plaza is a complex in Napa, California, which consists of the Napa County Courthouse and the Hall of Records. The two buildings occupy an entire city block, which includes open areas and landscaping to create the site's plaza setting. The High Victorian Italianate courthouse was built in 1878 to replace the original 1856 courthouse. The courthouse continues to serve as the seat of Napa County government. The 1916 Hall of Records is a federally sponsored records building designed by William H. Corlett. The Renaissance Revival building represents an early use of reinforced concrete as a building material; the material became popular nationwide in the 1920s.

The Martin L. and Mary Jane (Yount) Shantz House is a historic building located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, United States. It is significant for being constructed of locally made brick and locally quarried limestone, and its Late Victorian architectural influences. It was built in 1882 on two lots in Saxby’s Addition to Mount Vernon. The house is a two-story, L-shaped brick structure with a low-pitched hip roof, wide eaves, tall windows that enhance its verticality, and a three-sided bay window. It is a vernacular expression of Late Victorian stylistic influences. The house lacks elaborate exterior decorative elements and a substantial front porch at a time when they were popular. This either reflects the Shantz's preferences or a lack of finances to include them. The bricks used in its construction were more than likely from the G.W. Robinson brickyard, the main brick and lime manufacturer in Mount Vernon at the time. Shantz's blacksmith shop was also located on the property. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.
