The Garfield House is a historic two-story house in South Pasadena, California. It was built in 1904 for First Lady Lucretia Garfield, the widow of James A. Garfield who served as the 20th President of the United States in 1881. [2] It was designed by Greene & Greene in the American Craftsman style. [2] It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since April 24, 1973. [1]

Chester A. Arthur Home United States historic place

The Chester A. Arthur Home was the residence of the 21st President of the United States, Chester A. Arthur (1829–1886), both before and after his four years in Washington, D.C., while serving as Vice President and then as President. It is located at 123 Lexington Avenue, between 28th and 29th Streets in Rose Hill, Manhattan, New York City. Arthur spent most of his adult life living in the residence. While Vice President, Arthur retreated to the house after the July 2, 1881 shooting of President James Garfield. Arthur was in residence here when Garfield died on September 19, and took the presidential oath of office in the building. A commemorative bronze plaque was placed inside the building in 1964 by the Native New Yorkers Historical Society and New York Life Insurance, and the house was designated a National Historic Landmark on January 12, 1965.

Thomas Gould Jr. House United States historic place

The Thomas Gould Jr. House is a historic house located at 402 Lynn Drive in Ventura, California. Architect Henry Mather Greene designed the American Craftsman style California bungalow, which was built in 1924. The house is considered one of the best examples of Henry Greene's independent work; most of his other designs were created alongside his brother Charles as Greene & Greene. The two-story house has a wood frame and redwood siding and window casings. The gable roof features truncated ends and a small gable on the front side which resembles a dormer. The house's interior decorations include ceiling moldings, a leaded glass china cabinet, and a carved mirror, the latter being the only piece of furniture designed by Greene himself.

The Parsonage (Oak Hill, New York) United States historic place

The Parsonage is a historic home located at Oak Hill in Greene County, New York. The house was built about 1815 and is a two-story, heavy timber framed, five bay gable roofed dwelling modified about 1840 and about 1870. Also on the property is a carriage barn with board and batten siding. From 1868 to 1973 it served as the parsonage for the nearly Methodist Episcopal church.

Greene Hills Farm United States historic place

Greene Hills Farm, also known as the Greene County Historical Society Museum, is a historic home located at Franklin Township in Greene County, Pennsylvania. The house was built in 1861, as a 2+12-story, nine-bay by four-bay, brick dwelling with a gable roof in the Georgian style. It was expanded in the 1880s with a 2+12-story, brick addition with a gable roof. Another 2+12-story addition was built about 1900. It was the county home for the aged from the 1880s through 1964, when it closed. It was renovated starting in 1969, to house the Greene County Historical Society museum collection and library.

William Green House (Ewing Township, New Jersey) United States historic place

The William Green House is a historic farmhouse in Ewing Township, New Jersey. The first home on the site was built in the last decade of the 17th century. According to a privately published family monograph, the farmhouse was the home of Judge William Greene, who was born in the 1600s in England and died in 1722 in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The oldest parts of the current structure date to 1717 and the newest to 1830. The house is owned by the College of New Jersey but is in a poor state of repair. It has been considered an endangered historic site for over 40 years and, despite efforts taken by the college in 2006 to shore up the structure, was listed in 2015 as one of New Jersey's 10 most endangered historic sites by Preservation New Jersey.

Howard Longley House United States historic place

The Howard Longley House is a historic house in South Pasadena, California, U.S. In 1897, Greene and Greene recorded job no. 23 as a residence for Howard and Etta Longley at 1005 Buena Vista Street, with a valuation of $3,876. Mr. Longley was "the brother-in-law of Dr. Greene's [i.e., Charles and Henry Greene's father] sister, Alice." The house is significant as one of the earliest surviving residences designed by Greene & Greene. On 6 August 1897 the Los Angeles Journal reported that plans for the house were being prepared. The Longley house stands next to the Lucretia Garfield House. The Longley House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 16, 1974.
