The Harvey Mountain Quarry near Bonners Ferry, Idaho, United States, is a prehistoric stone quarry. As an archeological site it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. [2] [3]

It was discovered in 1971 by a mining survey crew and it was studied in 1975 by the University of Idaho. [3]

Argillite can be found in the quarry. A spear point found near Lake Windemere in British Columbia is made of argillite that may have come from this quarry. [3]

The Dead Indian Campsite is an archeological site in the Sunlight Basin of the Absaroka Mountains in Park County, Wyoming, United States. The site was found during the construction of the Sunlight Basin Road in 1967. The location was used as a butchering site, and excavations by the University of Wyoming in 1969 uncovered numerous stone tools, as well as the bones of elk, deer, mountain sheep, porcupine and wolf. A stone cairn was found to contain antler sets. The site was used in different eras for 4500 years.

The Burro Mesa Archeological District encompasses a quarry in Big Bend National Park used by Native Americans as a source of chert for chipped-stone tools. The quarry was used intermittently beginning in the paleoindian period starting about 12,000 to 13,000 years ago. The chert is found in a variety of colors and rests on top of tuff beds which themselves contain veins of kaolinite that was suitable for making claystone ornaments and beads. The quarry area is carpeted with lithic debris from the initial knapping process by which chert was rough-shaped into material of suitable size and shape for later refinement at more convenient locations.

The Snake River Archaeological District is an archaeological area located in Nez Perce County, Idaho, and Asotin County, Washington, and centered on the Snake River, which divides the two states. The area includes a number of sites inhabited by the Nez Perce people, who used it as a fishing ground and a winter campsite. Settlement in the area stretches from roughly 6000 B.C. to the 20th century A.D. Several hundred pictographs are part of the area, usually painted at village sites.

The Talagi Pictograph Cave is a rock art site on the island of Guam. It is located on property owned by the government of Guam within the bounds of Andersen Air Force Base on the northern part of the island near Tarague Beach. The cave contains thirteen pictographs representing human figures, and a places where limestone mortar was used that is of prehistoric origin. Based on the characteristics of the figures, it is believed that they were probably the work of a single individual. It is one of a small number known rock art sites on the island.

The Savonoski River Archeological District encompasses a complex of prehistoric and historic archaeological sites on the Savonoski River near the mouth of the Grosvenor River in Katmai National Park and Preserve, located on the Alaska Peninsula of southwestern Alaska. At least two sites, designated 49-MK-3 and 49-MK-4 by state archaeologists, were identified when the site was listed in 1978. In 2003, the district was enlarge to include a third site, XMK-53. This area is believed to be the site of one of a group of Native Alaskan settlements referred to in Russian records as "Severnovsk". Excavations of a known prehistoric site in 1964 uncovered additional evidence of a post-contact settlement.

The Winooski Archeological Site, designated VT-CH-46 by state archaeologists, is a prehistoric Native American site in the city of Winooski, Vermont. First identified in 1972, it is one of the largest Native encampment sites of the Middle Woodland period in the northeastern United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, at which time it was recognized as one of just two stratified Woodland period sites in the state.

The Four Mounds site is a historic site located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. It is made up of a row of four conical burial mounds on a blufftop that overlooks the Mississippi River. They are prehistoric in their origin. The site was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. It was included as a contributing property in the Four Mounds Estate Historic District in 2002.

The Orwell site, designated 21OT7 in the state archaeological inventory, is a historic site located near Fergus Falls, Minnesota, United States. It consists of twelve Middle or Late Woodland period burial mounds, four of which are enclosed by an earthwork. They were built from about A.D. 350–600. They share similarities with the mounds found at Fort Juelson, also in Otter Tail County, with their central burial chamber. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The Benson Archeological Site, designated 13WD50 in the state archaeological inventory, is a historic site located near Smithland, Iowa, United States. Pottery fragments found at the site include Black Sand and Crawford ware from the early Woodland period and Valley ware from the Middle Woodland period. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
