The Kerala Women's League (KWL) is the top division of women's football league in the Indian state of Kerala. The league is organised by the Kerala Football Association (KFA), the official football governing body of the state. [1] [2] For sponsorship ties with Ramco Cements, it is officially called as Ramco Kerala Women's League. [3]

History

The inaugural tournament was held in the 2014–15, [4] followed by the 2015–16 season. It wasn't held ever since until the 2021–22 season. [5] [6] [7] [8]

Kerala Blasters Football Club, commonly referred to as Blasters, is an Indian professional football club based in Kochi, Kerala, that competes in the Indian Super League (ISL), the top tier of football in India. The club was established in May 2014 during the inaugural season of the ISL.

The 2014–15 Kerala Premier League Season was the second season of the Kerala Premier League, a professional football league played in Kerala since 2013–14. The Season included a Women's Edition for the first time. The season features eight teams. The season kicked off on 2 May and ended on 7 May, while the semi-finals began on 9 May, which will conclude with the final match on 11 May. The final was played between State Bank of Travancore and Kerala Police on 11 May 2015. State Bank of Travancore were crowned as champions defeating Kerala Police 5–1 in the final. Wayanad FC emerged as the winners of the Women's Edition.

Gokulam Kerala Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Kozhikode, Kerala. Founded in 2017, the club competes in I-League, the second tier of Indian football league system. They won 2020–21 I-League to become the first ever club from Kerala to do so, and became the first team to defend the league title in 2021–22. Gokulam is also the first and so far the only club from the state to qualify for a continental competition, AFC Cup, in 2022.

The 2021–22 season was the eighth season in Kerala Blasters FC's existence, as well as their eighth season in Indian Super League. The 2021–22 Indian Super League season began on 19 November 2021, and it end on 20 March 2022 with all the matches held in Goa across three venues, same like the previous season due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India.

Kerala Blasters Football Club Women, commonly referred to as The Blasters, was an Indian women's football club based in Kochi, Kerala, that competed in the Kerala Women's League, the second tier league of women's football in India. Founded in July 2022, the club was affiliated with their men's team Kerala Blasters FC in the Indian Super League. In June 2023, the Blasters management announced the temporary pause of the Women’s team due to financial problems, after the All India Football Federation imposed financial sanction on the club.

The 2021–22 Kerala Women's League season was the third season of the Kerala Women's League. The season featured 6 teams and all the matches were played at single venue. The season was started in the mid of November 2021. The Kerala Football Association conducted the women's league after a gap 7 years.

Apurna Narzary is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a forward for the Indian Women's League club Sethu and the India national team.

The 2023–24 Kerala Premier League was the eleventh season of the Kerala Premier League, which is the highest level of the State league system and fifth of the overall Indian football league system.
