Leonard is a city in Cass County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 248 at the 2020 census. [3] Leonard was founded in 1881.
Leonard got its start in 1881 when the railroad was extended to that point. [5] A post office has been in operation at Leonard since 1881. [6]

As of the census of 2010, there were 223 people, 109 households, and 69 families living in the city. The population density was 297.3 inhabitants per square mile (114.8/km2). There were 121 housing units at an average density of 161.3 per square mile (62.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.8% White, 1.3% Native American, and 0.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.2% of the population.
There were 109 households, of which 22.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.1% were married couples living together, 5.5% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.7% had a male householder with no wife present, and 36.7% were non-families. 34.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.05 and the average family size was 2.61.
