The Party of Functional Groups, often known by its abbreviation Golkar, is a centre-right big tent secular nationalist political party in Indonesia. Founded in 1964 as the Joint Secretariat of Functional Groups, it is the oldest extant political party in Indonesia. It first participated in national elections in 1971 as Functional Groups. Since 2009, it has been the second-largest party in the House of Representatives (DPR), having won 102 seats in the latest election.

Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, commonly referred to as SBY, is an Indonesian politician, painter and retired army general who served as the sixth president of Indonesia from 2004 to 2014 and the second president of Indonesia from the military after Suharto. He founded the Democratic Party of Indonesia and served as its 4th chairman from 2014 until 2020. He also served as the 8th and 10th coordinating minister for political and security affairs from 2000 until 2001 and again from 2001 until 2004. He also served as the president of the Assembly and chair of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute. He was also the former chairman of ASEAN due to Indonesia hosting of the 18th and 19th ASEAN Summits.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Elections in Indonesia</span>

Elections in Indonesia have taken place since 1955 to elect a legislature. At a national level, Indonesian people did not elect a head of state – the president – until 2004. Since then, the president is elected for a five-year term, as are the 580-member People's Representative Council, the 152-seat Regional Representative Council in 2024 general election, in addition to provincial and municipal legislative councils.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hatta Rajasa</span> Indonesian politician

Muhammad Hatta Rajasa is an Indonesian politician who served as the Coordinating Minister for the Economy of Indonesia from 22 October 2009 to 13 May 2014. A member of the National Mandate Party (PAN), he previously served as Minister Secretary of State (2007–2009), Minister of Transportation (2004–2007), and Minister of State for Research and Technology (2001–2004). He was also general Prabowo Subianto's running mate in the 2014 Indonesian presidential election, with the ticket being backed by a number of parties, including the Gerindra party, National Mandate Party, Prosperous Justice Party, United Development Party, the Crescent Star Party and Golkar.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ratu Atut Chosiyah</span> Indonesian politician (born 1962)

Ratu Atut Chosiyah is a former governor of the province of Banten, Indonesia. She was suspended from office in 2014 because of a corruption case. She held office for several terms. Before her election as governor in 2006, she was the deputy governor under Djoko Munandar starting from 11 January 2002. Djoko was involved in a corruption case and was suspended from office in October 2005. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono appointed Ratu Atut as the acting governor to take over Djoko's administrative duties and she later became governor. She thus became the first female governor in Indonesia. In May 2014, she was formally charged by the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission for alleged corruption. In early September 2014, she was sentenced to a four-year term of imprisonment on the charges brought by the Commission against her. In September 2022, Ratu Atut was released on parole.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Rano Karno</span> Indonesian actor and politician

Rano Karno is an Indonesian actor and politician who served as Governor of Banten from 2014 to 2017. As a result of his fame gained from his acting career, he is known for starring in the 1979 film Gita Cinta dari SMA and his role as Si Doel in various media starting from the 1972 film Si Doel Anak Betawi.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Airin Rachmi Diany</span> Indonesian politician

Airin Rachmi Diany is an Indonesian politician who served as the mayor of South Tangerang from 2011 to 2021. She is also the aunt of Banten lieutenant governor Andika Hazrumy. She has led several initiatives to combat recruitment of people in her city by radical fundamentalist groups, including interfaith forums, with the support of Indonesia's central government. She also commissioned a canal project in order to prevent flooding on the Jakarta–Serpong Toll Road in February 2017.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Syahrul Yasin Limpo</span> Indonesian politician (born 1955)

Syahrul Yasin Limpo is an Indonesian politician, who served as Minister of Agriculture in Joko Widodo's Onward Cabinet from October 2019 until the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced his involvement in alleged corruption in September 2023. He was governor of South Sulawesi from 2008 to 2018.

The 2018 South Sulawesi Gubernatorial Election took place on 27 June 2018 as part of the simultaneous local elections. It was held to elect the governor of South Sulawesi along with their deputy, whilst members of the provincial council will be re-elected in 2019.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2017 Banten gubernatorial election</span>

A gubernatorial election was held on 15 February 2017 to elect the governor of Banten province for the five-year term between 2017 and 2022. The election was held simultaneously with other provincial and local elections across the country as part of the 2017 local elections. It pitted incumbent Rano Karno against People's Representative Council member and former mayor of Tangerang Wahidin Halim.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Zulkieflimansyah</span> Indonesian politician

Zulkieflimansyah, sometimes colloquially called Bang Zul, is an Indonesian politician and academic who is the latest Governor proper of West Nusa Tenggara, serving for the term 2018-2023. Before being elected as governor, he had been elected to the People's Representative Council thrice.

Eni Maulani Saragih is an Indonesian politician who was a member of the People's Representative Council. She was first elected in the 2014 legislative election as a member of Golkar. She was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission in 2018, being accused of having accepted bribery, and was imprisoned until 2022.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Wahidin Halim</span> Indonesian politician

Wahidin Halim is an Indonesian politician who is the formerly Governor of Banten, having held that position since 2017 to 2022. Before being elected to the office, Halim had spent two years as a legislator and ten years as the mayor of Tangerang.

Ilham Arief Sirajuddin is an Indonesian former politician who was the mayor of Makassar between 2004 and 2014. He was convicted of corruption in 2016.

Amin Syam was an Indonesian military officer and politician. A member of Golkar, he served as governor of South Sulawesi from 2003 to 2008.

The 2020 South Tangerang mayoral election was held on 9 December 2020 to elect the mayor of South Tangerang as part of the 2020 Indonesian local elections. The incumbent mayor, Airin Rachmi Diany, was term-limited and couldn't run for re-election. The sitting vice-mayor, Benyamin Davnie of Golkar, was elected in her stead, winning more than 40% of the vote.
