ǁKaras Region Region in Namibia

The ǁKaras Region is the southernmost, largest, and least densely populated of the 14 regions of Namibia; its capital is Keetmanshoop. The name assigned to the region reflects the prominence of the Karas mountain range in its southern part. The ǁKaras region contains the municipality of Keetmanshoop, the towns Karasburg, Lüderitz and Oranjemund, and the self-governed villages Aroab, Berseba, Bethanie, Koës and Tses.

Skorpion Zinc

Skorpion Zinc is a zinc mine in the ǁKaras Region of southern Namibia, producing Special High Grade (SHG) zinc. The mine is situated near Rosh Pinah. It was established at a cost of US$450 million by Anglo American in 2003. It is the tenth-largest zinc mine in the world, and the largest employer in Rosh Pinah, providing 1,900 jobs.

Namibia Power Corporation, commonly known as NamPower, is the national electric power utility company of Namibia. The company is responsible for generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in the country. Its activities are licensed, supervised and regulated by the Electricity Control Board (ECB) of Namibia.

Rosh Pinah Settlement in ǁKaras Region, Namibia

Rosh Pinah is a mining town located in southern Namibia, close to the border with South Africa. It is situated 360 kilometres (220 mi) south of Keetmanshoop in Namibia's ǁKaras Region. West of the town lies Diamond Area 1, the main diamond mining area of Namibia. Rosh Pinah belongs to the Oranjemund electoral constituency. The town is connected via road to Aus and Oranjemund.

Mining is the biggest contributor to Namibia's economy in terms of revenue. It accounts for 25% of the country's income. Its contribution to the gross domestic product is also very important and makes it one of the largest economic sectors of the country. Namibia produces diamonds, uranium, copper, magnesium, zinc, silver, gold, lead, semi-precious stones and industrial minerals. The majority of revenue comes from diamond mining. In 2014, Namibia was the fourth-largest exporter of non-fuel minerals in Africa.

Keetmanshoop railway station

Keetmanshoop railway station is a railway station serving the town of Keetmanshoop in Namibia. It was erected in 1908. when the territory was colonised by Imperial Germany. It is part of the TransNamib Railway, and is located along the Windhoek to Upington line that was inaugurated in 1915 and connects Namibia with South Africa. Keetmanshoop also has a junction to Seeheim and Aus, completed in 1908.

The Ruacana Hydroelectric Power Station is a hydroelectric power plant near Ruacana in northwest Namibia, close to the Angolan border. Commissioned in 1978, it is by far the largest power station in Namibia. Its operator is NamPower, the Namibian national electric power utility company.

Rosh Pinah mine

The Rosh Pinah mine is a mine near Rosh Pinah in the ǁKaras Region of southern Namibia. It is one of the largest and most important lead and zinc mines in Namibia. The mine is located in the extreme southwest, about 20 kilometres (12 mi) north of the Orange River and 50 kilometers east of the Atlantic. The mine is owned by Trevali Mining Corporation since 2017.

Bokpoort CSP

Bokpoort CSP is a concentrated solar power (CSP) thermal energy power plant, located near Groblershoop in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. The project was procured pursuant to the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP) program initiated by the South African Department of Energy.

Neckartal Dam Dam in Berseba, ǁKaras Region

The Neckartal Dam, nicknamed the Desert Dragon, is a dam located in the ǁKaras Region of southern Namibia. It is a curved gravity dam on the Fish River near Berseba, c. 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of the regional capital Keetmanshoop. Construction started in 2013 and was initially expected to finish in 2017. Since its completion in 2018, it is the largest dam in Namibia, more than three times the capacity of the Hardap Dam upstream. The dam's purpose is to support a 5,000 hectares irrigation scheme nearby.

Vietnam exploits all four big sources of renewable energy: hydroelectricity, wind power, solar power and biomass. The potential for hydroelectricity is well developed. By the end of 2018, hydropower was the largest source of renewable energy, contributing about 40% to the total national electricity capacity.

The Techren Solar Project is a 400 megawatt (MWAC) solar photovoltaic power plant near Boulder City, Nevada. Electricity production began with completion of the two building phases in 2019–2020. The project is co-located with several other large solar power projects in the Eldorado Valley.

The Kokerboom–Auas High Voltage Power Line, also Keetmanshoop–Dordabis High Voltage Power Line, is a high voltage electricity power line, under construction, connecting the high voltage substation at Kokerboom, near Keetmanshoop, in the ǁKaras Region to another high voltage substation at Auas, near Dordabis, in the Khomas Region of Namibia.

The Mariental Solar Power Station is a 45.5 MW (61,000 hp) solar power plant in Namibia. The project is owned and was developed by a consortium of various IPPs and the Namibian electricity utility company, NamPower.

The Khan Solar Power Station, is a 20 megawatts (27,000 hp) solar power plant under construction in Namibia. The project is owned and under development by Access Aussenkehr Solar One Namibia a Namibian independent power producer (IPP), based in Windhoek, the country's capital city. The energy generated here will be purchased by NamPower, the national electricity utility company, which is wholly owned by the government of Namibia. A 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA), governs the terms under which the energy will be sold and bought.

The TeraSun Energy Solar Power Station is a planned 81 megawatts solar power plant in Namibia. The power station is owned and is being developed by a consortium comprising Natura Energy, a Namibia-based energy company and Globleq Africa Limited, an independent power producer (IPP), headquartered in the United Kingdom.
