The 1951 New Zealand general election was a nationwide vote to determine the shape of the New Zealand Parliament's 30th term. The First National Government was re-elected, with the National Party increasing its parliamentary majority over the opposition Labour Party. This was the last time until the 2020 election that a party was elected to majority government of New Zealand by receiving a majority of the vote.
Karori was a New Zealand electorate, situated in the west of Wellington. It existed from 1946 to 1978, and was represented by three different Members of Parliament during that period, all of them are represented by National Party due to being a wealthy suburb.

The role was established in 1984 as Minister of Pacific Island Affairs, prior to which, Pacific Island affairs had been within the purview of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The position was renamed Minister for Pacific Peoples on 22 December 2015.
