The Sycamore Historic District is a meandering area encompassing 99 acres (400,000 m2) of the land in and around the downtown of the DeKalb County, Illinois county seat, Sycamore. The area includes historic buildings and a number of historical and Victorian homes. Some significant structures are among those located within the Historic District including the DeKalb County Courthouse and the Sycamore Public Library. The district has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 2, 1978.
Pittsfield Historic District is a historic district in Pittsfield, Illinois, the county seat of Pike County. The district is centered on the Pike County Courthouse and the surrounding courthouse square; it also encompasses nearby residential areas. The courthouse was built in 1894–95; architect Henry Elliott based its Romanesque design off his earlier design for the Edgar County, Illinois, courthouse. The district's historic commercial buildings are mostly located on the courthouse square, which surrounds the courthouse; these buildings are mainly two-story brick structures. The Italianate and Queen Anne styles are prevalent among the district's houses, with the former being the most prominent; the Greek Revival and Federal styles are also common in the district's earlier homes.
The Ogle County Courthouse is a National Register of Historic Places listing in the Ogle County, Illinois, county seat of Oregon. The building stands on a public square in the city's downtown commercial district. The current structure was completed in 1891 and was preceded by two other buildings, one of which was destroyed by a group of outlaws. Following the destruction of the courthouse, the county was without a judicial building for a period during the 1840s. The Ogle County Courthouse was designed by Chicago architect George O. Garnsey in the Romanesque Revival style of architecture. The ridged roof is dominated by its wooden cupola which stands out at a distance.
The Waterloo Historic District is a historic district composed of the majority of central Waterloo, Illinois. The district includes 271 buildings, of which 182 are contributing buildings to its historic character. The center of the district includes Waterloo's town square, the site of the Monroe County Courthouse, as well as a two-block section of Main Street which forms the city's commercial core. The town square is surrounded by residential development on three sides, an unusual arrangement among small towns in Illinois. The predominant architectural styles in the residential parts of the district are local adaptations of the Federal style and a German cottage style developed by the city's German immigrants in the 19th century.
The Lincoln Courthouse Square Historic District is located in Lincoln, Illinois in Logan County. The district is roughly bounded by Sangamon, Pekin, Chicago, Delavan, Broadway, and Pulaski Streets. The district includes 112 buildings, 89 of which are contributing buildings.
The Madison County Courthouse is located in Winterset, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981 as a part of the County Courthouses in Iowa Thematic Resource. It was included as a contributing property in the Winterset Courthouse Square Commercial Historic District in 2015. The courthouse is the third building the county has used for court functions and county administration.
The Linn County Courthouse is located on May's Island in the middle of the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States. It, along with the Veterans Memorial Building and two other buildings, is a contributing property to the May's Island Historic District that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The courthouse is the third building the county has used for court functions and county administration.
The Patton Block Building is a historic commercial building located at 88–90 Public Square in Monmouth, Illinois. Monmouth businessman and politician Robert S. Patton built the building in 1891. The red brick building was designed in the Commercial style. The building was built with stained glass panels in the top portions of its upper story windows; it is the only commercial building in Monmouth to have used stained glass. A number of different businesses have occupied the building, including two movie theaters; the first of these, the La Grande Theatre, opened in 1909 and was one of the first movie theaters in Monmouth. In addition, several fraternal organizations and social clubs have used the building as a meeting space, including the Rebekahs, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Modern Woodmen of America.
The Marshall Business Historic District is a historic district located in downtown Marshall, Illinois. The district encompasses the city's historic commercial center and includes 56 buildings and structures, 46 of which are contributing buildings. Marshall's courthouse square is a central feature of the district; the square includes the Italian Renaissance Revival Clark County Courthouse, which was built in 1903. The other buildings in the district, mainly commercial and government buildings, were built from the 1830s to the 1960s; however, most of the buildings were built between 1870 and 1910, Marshall's largest growth period. The buildings from this era are mostly designed in the Italianate, Romanesque, and Italian Renaissance Revival styles.
The Shelbyville Historic District is a historic district encompassing the core of Shelbyville, Illinois. The district includes 398 buildings, 293 of which are contributing buildings. The section of Shelbyville laid out at the city's founding in 1827 forms the center of the district. Shelbyville's public square, which includes the 1880 Shelby County Courthouse and a veterans' memorial, is the central feature of this part of the historic district. The original section of Shelbyville also includes significant commercial and government buildings. The district also includes Shelbyville's oldest residential areas, which developed out from the 1827 core. The Italianate style is the most prominent architectural style in the district, both in homes and commercial buildings; other common architectural styles include Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, Second Empire, and Queen Anne.
The Galesburg Historic District is a 496-acre (201 ha) historic district in Galesburg, Illinois. The district includes 1049 contributing buildings and contains the town's original plat as well as several older neighborhoods. The section of the district south of North Street encompasses Galesburg's historic city center and its most significant landmarks, such as the Knox County Courthouse, the Knox County Jail, the Burlington Depot, and Main Street's commercial buildings. Knox College, the school Galesburg was founded to serve, and its historic Old Main are also located in the southern half of the district. The area north of North Street is mainly residential and is dominated by Queen Anne and Classical Revival houses, including many transitional houses displaying elements of both styles.
The Jerseyville Downtown Historic District is a 17.5-acre (7.1 ha) historic district encompassing the commercial center of Jerseyville, Illinois. The district includes most of the city's historic commercial buildings, which were built along State Street and its cross streets from 1867 to 1929. The center of the district is at the intersection of State and Pearl Streets. The most prominent building in the district is the Jersey County Courthouse, a 124-foot tall limestone Romanesque Revival building built in 1893; unlike many other Illinois county seats, however, the district is not centered on the courthouse. The other buildings in the district are mainly one- and two-story brick Commercial style structures; other architectural influences in the district include Romanesque, Greek Revival, and Chateauesque. Other non-commercial buildings in the district include the Jerseyville Public Library, a Georgian style Carnegie library built in 1904, and the First Baptist Church, a Classical Revival church built in 1916.

The district includes the historic commercial center of the city, the county seat of Piatt County, and is centered on the Piatt County Courthouse. 80 buildings are included in the district, 73 of which are considered contributing to its historic character. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 5, 2009.
The Winchester Historic District is a historic district which encompasses much of the developed area of Winchester, Illinois. The district includes 438 buildings, of which 273 are contributing buildings. Winchester's historic area represents a typical small, rural county seat; its commercial development is focused around the county courthouse and town square, while low- to moderate-density residential development can be found away from the commercial center. Development in the district began in the 1830s; by the 1870s, most of the significant buildings had been completed. The district's older buildings are mainly designed in the Federal and Greek Revival styles, while its later buildings mostly have Italianate designs. The Greek Revival Presbyterian Church stands out among these traditionally-styled buildings; according to the Illinois Historic Structures Survey, it is the most exceptional Greek Revival church in any Illinois city of over 500 people. The Scott County Courthouse, a late addition to the district in 1885, has also been noted as architecturally significant, though its design does not conform to a single style.
The Macomb Courthouse Square Historic District is a historic district located in downtown Macomb, Illinois. The district covers six full and four partial city blocks and includes 65 contributing buildings. The McDonough County Courthouse, an 1871 Second Empire building, is the centerpiece of the district. The courthouse is situated in the middle of a Harrisonburg-style courthouse square, which is flanked by two north-south streets and intersected by a single east-west street that splits around the courthouse; the layout is unusual in Illinois, though Stark County has a similar layout. The surrounding buildings are mainly commercial, though several are government buildings. Brick commercial blocks, often with Italianate or Queen Anne details, dominate the district's architectural landscape; the district's more modern buildings, which date to the first half of the twentieth century, mostly have Art Deco or Moderne styling.
Winterset Courthouse Square Commercial Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Winterset, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. At the time of its nomination the district consisted of 82 resources, including 74 contributing buildings, seven noncontributing buildings, and one noncontributing object. The historic district covers most of the city's central business district in the original town plat. Most of the buildings are two-story, brick, commercial buildings. The commercial Italianate style is dominant, with Queen Anne, Romanesque Revival, and Neoclassical styles included. The Madison County Courthouse (1878) is a Renaissance Revival structure designed by Alfred H. Piquenard. Most of the buildings are brick construction, but four were constructed using locally quarried limestone. The stone buildings include the courthouse, the White, Munger and Company Store (1861), and the Sprague, Brown, and Knowlton Store (1866), all of which are individually listed on the National Register.
The Dixon Downtown Historic District is a historic district which encompasses 154 properties in downtown Dixon, Illinois. The district includes the city's commercial core, which includes buildings dating back to the 1850s. Dixon's commercial buildings are largely two-story brick structures and reflect the popular architectural styles of their era of construction; the Italianate style is most common in 19th-century buildings, while the Commercial style and revival styles such as Neoclassical and Beaux-Arts became popular after 1900. Many of Dixon's prominent government and community buildings also lie within the district, including the Lee County Courthouse, City Hall, its current and former post offices, and several churches. A residential section on the west side of the district includes Queen Anne and Craftsman style homes; the former style was popular in the late 19th century, while the latter was popular in the early 20th.
The Pike County Courthouse is a government building in Pittsfield, the county seat of Pike County, Illinois, United States. Completed in 1895, it is the fifth courthouse in the county's history.
The Kankakee Downtown Historic District is a national historic district in downtown Kankakee, Illinois. The district includes 73 buildings which form the commercial and governmental center of the city, most of which are grouped along Court Street and Schuyler Avenue. While development in the district began in the 1850s, the oldest surviving building in the district is from 1864; the newest contributing buildings are from the mid-twentieth century. Kankakee's Courthouse Square and the 1908 Kankakee County Courthouse are part of the district; other government buildings in the district include Kankakee's post office, police and fire station, and armory. Most of the district's other buildings are one- to three-story brick or stone commercial buildings. Many popular architectural styles of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries are represented in the district; the Italianate, Neoclassical, and Art Deco styles are among the most common.
The Scott County Courthouse is a government building in Winchester, the county seat of Scott County, Illinois, United States. Completed in 1885, it is the third courthouse in the county's history.
