Oatley Pleasure Grounds is a bush park located in Oatley, New South Wales. The whole park is 3.4 hectares (8.4 acres). [1]

History

A private park was started by Harry Linmark before 1934.[ citation needed ] A band, weekly on Sunday, previously[ when? ] held entertaining shows at the park. Chinese New Year celebrations and picnics hosted by the Salvation Army were held in the park. [2] A zoo was constructed in the park which held animals, such as kangaroos, monkeys, snakes and emus.[ citation needed ] Around the same period[ when? ] a wine bar was also constructed, but it was noisy and received complaints. Later in 1934, Kogarah Council purchased the park, extended it and renamed it. [2]

Danson Park

Danson Park is a public park in the London Borough of Bexley, South East London, located between Welling and Bexleyheath. At 75 hectares, it is the second largest public park in the borough, and the most used by the community. Opened in 1925, it is often considered the finest green open space in the borough, and is Grade II listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. The park also gives its name to the electoral ward that covers the park and the surrounding area. The park is located at grid reference TQ472752. The southern boundary of both the park and the ward is delineated by Rochester Way, the A2 road.

Jubilee Oval

Jubilee Oval, also known as Kogarah Oval or by its sponsored name Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, is a multipurpose stadium in Carlton, Sydney, Australia. The stadium is mainly used for rugby league and the A-League, and is one of the home grounds of the National Rugby League (NRL) team St. George Illawarra Dragons. The stadium has hosted football matches, including hosting Sydney Olympic FC in the 2003–04 National Soccer League and recently, Sydney FC in the 2018–19, 2019–20 A-League and 2020-21 due to the rebuild of the Sydney Football Stadium. Parks in Sydney

Sydney is well endowed with open spaces and has many natural areas. Many of these exist even within the compact city centre. These include the Chinese Garden of Friendship and Hyde Park. The metropolitan area contains several national parks, including the Royal National Park, the second oldest national park in the world, which occupies an area of 132 square kilometres. Completing Sydney's wide array of green spaces, the leader is the Royal Botanical Gardens, with its large amount of green spaces, lush plants and colourful flowers.

James Oatley Snr was a British-born colonial Australian watch and clock maker and one-time convict. Oatley, allegedly from Stafford and aged 44, was sentenced to penal transportation for life at Hampshire Assizes on 7 March 1814. Oatley had a number of convictions, dating back to 1806, when he had stolen one ton of cheese. He was sent to Australia for stealing shirts and bedding.

Moore Reserve is a 14.2 hectare park surrounded by the Sydney suburbs of Oatley, Mortdale and Hurstville Grove. It is the second largest public space in the Municipality of Kogarah.

Oatley Bay

Oatley Bay is a bay located in the Georges River Council, surrounded by the suburbs of Oatley, Hurstville Grove and Connells Point. The bay is part of the Georges River waterway. It is popular for boating, fishing, picnicking and bush walking, and is surrounded by waterfront properties. It also has the largest number of plants and animals in the Municipality of Kogarah protected in its reserves/parks, which include: Poulton Park, Redin Place Reserve, Oatley Point Reserve, Oatley Pleasure Grounds and Moore Reserve.

Oatley Point Reserve

Oatley Point Reserve is a reserve located in the Sydney suburb of Oatley. It has panoramic views of Georges River and Oatley Bay, as well as some of the highest quality remnant coastal forest in the Municipality of Kogarah. It is home to a colony of sugar gliders, ringtailed possums and dusky antechinus. It has a rocky tip/point- a popular spot for fishing.

Mark Gosling English Australian politician

Mark Gosling was an English Australian painter, building contractor and Labor member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for the districts of St George (1920–1927), Oatley (1927–1930) and Kogarah (1930–1932). He served as Colonial Secretary of New South Wales from May to October 1927 and again from November 1930 to May 1932.

Oatley Park, New South Wales

Oatley Park is a 112 acres (45 ha) reserve located on a promontory jutting into the Georges River in the southern Sydney suburb of Oatley. It is bounded by the Georges River, Lime Kiln Bay, and Jew Fish Bay. The park includes natural bushland, waterways, a children's playground, and an oval. The park is a popular place for picnics, recreational, and sporting activities.

The Georges River Council is a local government area located in the St George region of Sydney located south of the CBD, in New South Wales, Australia. The Council was formed on 12 May 2016 from the merger of the Kogarah City Council and Hurstville City Council.

An election for the leadership of the New South Wales branch of the Australian Labor Party was held in June 2021., triggered by the resignation of Leader Jodi McKay on 28 May 2021.
