Offinso North District is one of the forty-three districts in Ashanti Region, Ghana. [2] Originally, it was formerly part of the then-larger Offinso District in 1988, which was created from the former Offinso District Council, until the northern part of the district was split off by a decree of then-president John Agyekum Kufuor to create Offinso North District on 29 February, 2008, while the remaining part has since been renamed Offinso Municipal District , which was elevated to municipal district assembly status on the same year. The district assembly is located in the northern part of Ashanti Region and has Akomadan as its capital town.
The Ashanti Region is located in southern part of Ghana and it is the third largest of 16 administrative regions, occupying a total land surface of 24,389 km2 (9,417 sq mi) or 10.2 percent of the total land area of Ghana. In terms of population, however, it is the most populated region with a population of 4,780,380 according to the 2011 census, accounting for 19.4% of Ghana's total population. The Ashanti Region is known for its major gold bar and cocoa production. The largest city and regional capital is Kumasi.

However on 15 March 2018, the northern part of the district was later split off to create Atwima Nwabiagya North District; while the remaining part was elevated to municipal district assembly status on the same year to become Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of Ashanti Region and has Nkawie as its capital town.

However, in July 2012, the northern part of the district was split off to create a new Asante Akim North District; thus the remaining part has been renamed to become Asante Akim Central Municipal District. The district assembly is located in the eastern part of Ashanti Region and has Agogo as its capital town.

Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Wassa West District in 1988, which was created from the former Wassa-Fiase-Mpohor District Council, until the northern part of the district was split off to create Prestea-Huni Valley District on 29 February 2008; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Tarkwa-Nsuaem District, which was later elevated to municipal district assembly status on that same year to become Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal District. The municipality is located in the eastern part of Western Region and has Tarkwa as its capital town.

Abofour is a town in the Offinso Municipality in Ashanti Region of Ghana It is the second largest town in the Municipality after the Offinso township. It is in fact one of the most populated townships in the Ashanti REGION of Ghana. Though Offinso is the Municipal capital, Abofour undoubtedly is the ecomic hub of the municipality by the virtue of having one of the largest Markets in the country.
Akumadan is the capital of Offinso North, a district in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It has a population of about 20000. Akumadan township is well known for its agricultural activities. All sorts of food crops can be planted on its soil but tomatoes is the largest crop. 90 percent of natives above 18 years are tomato farmers. They produce more tomatoes than any other town in Ghana. It has a dam that helps to irrigate some farmlands within its reach during dry seasons. Cassava, pepper, onion, garden eggs, plantain, maize etc. are also abundant. A company called Fomghana has acquired a large area of land for planting trees near a river that irrigates it. Recently, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo formally opened a Greenhouse project. Its poised to train young people in Agric Technology.
Offinso, is a town in the Offinso Municipality in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The town is about fifteen minutes drive from Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region; due to Offinso's proximity to Kumasi, many of the Offinso natives have relocated to Kumasi.
