Orji is a village in southeast Nigeria. It is located in the Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State.[ citation needed ] This region is part of the ancient kingdom of Uratta. Orji is one of several settlements along the Owerri-Okigwe road, including Umuchoke, Umuogowerem, Umuogii, Umukehi, Umuodu, Umuimeka, Umundula, Umuasonye, and Aro.[ citation needed ]

It's known for its fast rise in industrialization due to its location along Owerri-Port-harcourt Road, giving hosts/non-indigents access to the Local government area, State capital and neighbouring state such as Abia State, Anambra state and Rivers State. Obinze shares boundaries with Oforola, Avu, Ihiagwa, Eziobodo, Umuokani, Nekede and Mbirichi etc.

Mbieri is a town in southeastern Nigeria. It is named after one of the indigenous Igbo clans that conquered parts of the old Owerri province. Anara is a town located in Isiala Mbano, Imo State, Nigeria. It is located about 30 km (20 mi) northeast of Owerri, and connected by a historic road. The town is bordered by Amaraku, Eziama, Abba, amongst other communities. It originated as a settlement made up of eight villages, with Aguna being the oldest of them. Anara's population stands at around 70,000; nevertheless, it is experiencing growth owing to a recent surge in immigration. The town celebrates many festivities, including Anara Day, the Awa festival, and the New Yam festival.

The Otamiri River is one of the main rivers in Imo State, Nigeria. The river takes its name from Ota Miri, a deity who owns all the waters that are called by his name, and who is often the dominating god of Mbari houses. The river runs south from Egbu past Owerri and through Nekede, Ihiagwa, Eziobodo, Olokwu Umuisi, Mgbirichi and Umuagwo to Ozuzu in Etche, in the Rivers State, from where it flows to the Atlantic Ocean. The length of the river from its source to its confluence at Emeabiam with the Uramiriukwa River is 30 kilometres (19 mi).

Owerri West is a Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Umuguma. Owerri West Local Government is administered under the terms of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Elections to the office of the Chairman of the local government are held through nominations by registered political parties as stipulated by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, under the supervision of Imo State Electoral Commission. Owerri West was carved out of the former Owerri Local Government Area in 1996. A very large portion of the local government constitute the capital city of Imo State, Nigeria.

Obazu in Imo State is one of the autonomous communities in Mbieri ancient kingdom of Imo state. It is made up of six villages, namely: Umueze, Umuchoke, Umuchimanwiri, Amaogwugwu, Obilubi and Umunkwo in order of seniority. It is located at the eastern part of Mbieri and share boundaries with Umuoba, Orji and Owuala of Uratta people, Amatta and Akabo (Ikeduru) and Ụmụneke, Umunjam, Amaulu, Eziome, Achi, Umuagwu, Ubakuru and Amankuta. The people are mostly Anglican though there are other Christian denomination followers among her people.

Otulu is a town in Oru West local government area of Imo State, Nigeria. It is located along the Owerri-Onitsha Federal Highway in Imo State. Approaching from Owerri to Onitsha one will get to Awo-Omanma, Amiri and then Otulu after which one has Mgbidi; while from Onitsha to Owerri one has Otulu after Mgbidi.

Owerri Bongo (Bongo/Igbo Bongo) is a style of Igbo highlife music that has its origins in the Igbo people of Owerri, in eastern Nigeria. The musical style is a sub-genre of Igbo highlife music. Unlike Igbo highlife, which is known for its brass horns and often somber feel. Owerri Bongo is typified by its heavy use of drums(Igba) and the Owerri dialect in which the genre is usually sung.
