Packard is an unincorporated community located in the town of Wagner, Marinette County, Wisconsin, United States. [1]
Packard is located at the intersection of Country Trunk Highway RR and Chapin Road, [2] at an elevation of 692 feet (211 m). [1] It is connected by road to McAllister to the south and Koss, Michigan to the north. [2]
Packard was a stop between McAllister and Koss on the Wisconsin & Michigan (W. & M.) Railway line from Bagley Junction to Iron Mountain. [3] The rail line through Packard was discontinued in 1938, when the tracks were torn out and the rolling stock sold off. [3] [4] [5] The entire town was destroyed by a forest fire in October, 1908. The Fast Mail was a train service operated by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad on an overnight schedule between Chicago, Illinois, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. The southbound trains were Milwaukee Road train Nos. 56 and 58, and the northbound trains were train Nos. 55 and 57. In its early years, this train service helped earn the Milwaukee Road's line the nickname "The Fast Mail Line." In 1924, the Fast Mail was the target of the largest train robbery in U.S. history. The Fast Mail was discontinued with train 56's arrival in Chicago on May 1, 1971.

Powder House Island (also known as Dynamite Island) is an artificial island on the lower Detroit River in southeast Michigan, directly adjacent to the Canada–United States border.
