As of the census [8] of 2000, there were 1,137 people, 462 households, and 342 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 6.6 inhabitants per square mile (2.5/km2). There were 918 housing units at an average density of 5.3 per square mile (2.0/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 93.7% White, 0.4% Black or African American, 0.7% Native American, 0.4% Asian, 0.5% Pacific Islander, 1.8% from other races, and 2.6% from two or more races. 5.2% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 462 households, out of which 29.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.6% were married couples living together, 5.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.8% were non-families. 18.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.78.
In the CDP, the age distribution of the population shows 22.6% under the age of 18, 3.9% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 34.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.0% who were 65 years of age or older.
