The Summerville Depot, at 120 E. Washington Ave. in Summerville, Georgia, was built in 1918. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. [1]

It is a one-story frame Prairie School-style depot building. It has a hipped roof and wide eaves, and weatherboard siding above tongue-and-groove exterior wainscoting. [2]

It was a passenger train stop on the Central of Georgia's Griffin and Chattanooga division. [3]

Ownership of the building was acquired in 1989 by the Chattooga County Historical Society, along with a long-term lease on the land with Norfolk Southern Corporation. It planned to restore the depot for use by the historical society and other civic organizations and to include museum exhibits. When listed in 1992, there were plans for an original block and tackle and telegraph key to be restored to the property. [2]

It was deemed "an excellent example of a combination railroad passenger and freight depot constructed in the early 1900s." [2] Until the fall of 2019, and resuming in the fall of 2023, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga has operated occasional excursions between their Grand Junction Station in Tennessee and the Summerville Depot.

The Central of Georgia Railway started as the Central Rail Road and Canal Company in 1833. As a way to better attract investment capital, the railroad changed its name to Central Rail Road and Banking Company of Georgia. This railroad was constructed to join the Macon and Western Railroad at Macon, Georgia, in the United States, and run to Savannah. This created a rail link from Chattanooga, on the Tennessee River, to seaports on the Atlantic Ocean. It took from 1837 to 1843 to build the railroad from Savannah to the eastern bank of the Ocmulgee River at Macon; a bridge into the city was not built until 1851.

Southern Railway 4501 is a preserved Ms class 2-8-2 "Mikado" type steam locomotive built in October 1911 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as the first of its wheel arrangement type for the Southern Railway (SOU). The depot was built in 1896 and served the Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway as a combination passenger and freight station. The Romanesque Revival style was inspired by Henry Hobson Richardson's designs for small railroad stations. It was the first railway depot in Wright County. It passed to the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad and continued to serve as a working depot until 1980. The Dows Historical Society bought and restored the depot in 1988. It now serves as a welcome center and railroad museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

The Burlington, Cedar Rapids & Northern Passenger Station-Vinton, also known as Rock Island Depot and the Vinton Depot, is a historic building located in Vinton, Iowa, United States. Completed in 1900, this depot replaced a previous depot of the Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway (BCR&N) located on the east side of town. It was designed by the railroad's architect and chief engineer, H.F. White, and built by A.H. Connor & Company of Cedar Rapids. The single-story brick structure was constructed on a limestone foundation. Three years after it was built, the BCR&N was acquired by the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. It continued to serve as a working depot until 1967. The Benton County Historical Society restored the depot and converted into a railroad museum. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Chattanooga Union Station, more commonly known as the Union Depot in Chattanooga, constructed between 1857-1859, served as a train car shed in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Located at Broad and Ninth Streets, the station was one of two major railroad terminals in the city, the other being the Southern Railway's Terminal Station.
